We are in fact not all a bunch of wife beating-rapist-meth heads (we just have the most of them per capita)
Amateurs.
While Chicago might have a paltry 36.6 rate of violent crime, we don't settle for run-of-the-mill assault and battery. Our number of murders is has consistently been the highest in the nation, and when taken into consideration that we are the 3rd most populous city (2.7 million or so) our murder rate is something around 3 times that of New York.
Plus, we are on track this year to shatter the downward trend that had been going on for the last few years, so expect that violent crime rate to rise as well.
But hey, we're still not mugging each other and beating our spouses and kids to the level that Rockford is, so that counts for something, don't it?
