Oh boy! Candy Critters!
« on: August 21, 2007, 07:06:42 AM »
Wow...

I got a DVD of Monsters: The Television Series in the mail today. Rottzombie sent it to me.

Monsters (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wow. I am so touched right now. Anything that I type will either sound cliche or it'll fall to convey my meaning.

I'm really touched you got this for me. I've wanted this for a VERY long time. This was one of my favorite television shows. For anyone that doesn't know the series. It's sort of like the Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, Tales from the Darkside. Most of episodes (if not all) have a monster. In many of the episodes if not most (the monster wins).

I've mentioned Mark to my boyfriend a few times. Here's a few lines that I've said.

"There's this guy on the board. He's got a REALLY good attitude. He always seems upbeat. He really seems to live life."

"Remember that guy Rott? If I ever got a chance to cast someone someone in a Zombie Movie, I'd cast him. I think he would get a real kick out of it. He goes to all the cons. He's met George Romero, Robert Englund. Real good attitude."

"You know that guy who likes monster movies? I wanna go see him when we go to Pennsicola/Disneyland."

You even got a tear out of me. =)

I figured I could have posted this in private but I wanted everyone on the board to know what a great guy I think Mark is. Not just because he got me a DVD but he's always been a really nice person.

Thank you VERY much.

Hugs,

Jen

Will I get Night Owl points for quitting but not as much for getting fired?
Will I still be a member of the Owl's Pals? I'd hate to turn in my card. It's got a real owl feather under the lamination and everything.

Night Owl: Oh, indeed. I quit many a job ...better than being fired. You can keep your card... in fact, you get double points for quitting!

Same here. Rott Rules AND the Twilight Zone is awesome. The Twilight Zone, Night Gallery, Outer Limits, Monsters, etc appeal to me because they are different. Less so now but at the time they were very different from what was on television. Good didn't always win, Good was sometimes Evil, Evil was better than Good in some cases. Oh! The twists! That's what made it really good. Sure, it's cliche now but they were groundbreaking at the time.

Many of them are still watchable and very enjoyable. =)

I still remember a bunch of the Monsters episodes that I haven't seen in years. Without giving much away... one of my favorites is about some guy who gets super cheap rent in a house. The only rules are: Don't put nails in the wall and you must throw lots of food into the garbage disposal. =)

Some of my other memories (which might not make sense if you don't know the show) involve:

Why it's a bad idea to bug a magician to levitate you.

If you have the power of flight. Make sure there aren't ceiling fans around.

*nods*

he's always been one of my favorite villagers. and not at ALL cause of DVDs I want. though I do plan on sending him a list asap. =D

I have never heard of this monsters show though, sounds interesting!  Indeed, why should the monsters always lose...hmm, actually come to think of it don't they usually win in those sorts of tv shows and movies?

They kinda did in "The Storyteller"
Which reminds me, I must find if such a thing exists on DvD. It was a crucial part of my Jim Henson sponsored childhood.

Indeed it does exist - 2 DVDs covering the entire classic John Hurt "Storyteller" series.

I don't know if the Michael Gambon Greek Myths series is on DVD because I didn't like that series on account of Gambon being shite compared with John Hurt. In fact, Gambon is just crap whatever he does - as can plainly be seen in this amazingly accurate Youtube clip :-

Anyway, never mind that...here's a pic of the cover of the second Storyteller DVD :)

Thankee.
I have ordered such a thing from Amazon and my life is now more complete for it.
Once Hercules Returns comes in, I'll be happier than a bag of spit.

I just watched two episodes.

The Feverman and one about a killer doll.

Just as good as I remember. =)

(Takes his humble bow)

Thanks to you all for the kind words and kudo's. After reading your comments, laying flat on my back, using my PC on dial up because the motherboard got fried over the weekend and with an open sore which might keep me from attending my (GOD I'M OLD) 25 year High School reunion next month, you wonderful people can still bring a smile to my face.

Hugs and Hi-fives all around!
