I'm headed to Dragon-con this year, something I thought I should do whilst my health allows.
When I was looking through the guest list and the event list, I came across a favorite actress
that I admired from Farscape, Virginia Hey (She played Zhaan, if anyone has watched Farscape
in the past). Lo and behold, she teaches meditation now, and was running a seminar at the con
itself. It's rather exclusive (only room for 50 folks from a con that attracks over 50k people) so
took the plunge, and sent a quick note to the link provided explaining my poor health and how I
was keen to try Ms. Hey's seminar to see if it would help me, if they still had room. I was writing
rather late, so I expected an automated "Sorry we're full up".
Much to my suprise, I got a note back from Ms. Hey herself, saying that of course she still had
room, that my name was down and all I had to do was show up at her table! (She called me
honey too, *GLEE*

but she was just being friendly).
I was over the moon, to say the least. How kind of her to do that for someone she didn't know
from Adam. I spent the next few weeks in a sort of happy haze. I struck up a small corespondence
with her, asking about possible herbal remedies (She's a herbalist as well), and she gave me some
ideas to try.
She wrote to me today to tell me that she wasn't going to be at Dragon-con afterall, since a job
offer came up at the last minute, and she felt so bad about it that she wanted my address to
send a meditation cd as a way to make ammends.
Of course I was gutted, as this was the one thing at Dragon-Con that I had my heart set on.

But then I thought, "How nice of her to do that for me, she could have just blown me off completely,
not told me about her absence and be non the worse for it. I'd have been devastated when I got
there but I'd have put it up to "Hollywood" types and moved on".
I sent back a rambling letter saying how torn I was between happiness at her new work and sadness
at not meeting her and learning in person.
Then I said that she owed me an afternoon tea at least and I'd bring the tim-tams. (Bubonic will know
what these are) completely tongue-in-cheek of course, I put in a few smilies to let her know that I
was kidding (mostly

).
So at once I'm sad that she won't be there, and I'm happy because I may have a new friend. We'll see.
*crosses fingers, toes and anything else crossable*
At any rate, she seems to be a genuinly sweet lady, and if you're of a mind to, check out her store. It's
called "White Flower Lei" and is in Los Angeles. (Can't remember the url at the moment)
I also sent her this picture and told her "They let me out of the glass at night, I don't know who the bloke
in the blue jacket is

"
Sorry for the ramble. Take care, and thanks for your time!
