Grr...Windows error and trouble rebooting
« on: November 19, 2007, 11:38:00 AM »
My other system crashed while I was downloading several parts of a MASH episode on youtube to watch it. It gave me the blue error screen and said I had a "kernel_stack_inpage_error" and to reboot unless I had had the error before. I tried to reboot but it kept hanging on the second screen of the bios and was loading that second page really slowly. I tried several times and gave up. I had to unplug it to shut it off.

So I shut it off and got on this system to look up what could cause it. Apparently it could either be a virus or bad hardware *shrug*. So I plug my other system back in to give it a try since all the fixes for this error require windows to be working. It boots up fine and now I'm running a virus scan on it.

*is totally perplexed*

I mean if it was a hardware issue you'd think it would have occurred at any point in the last few days when I've had sessions on TF2 or COD4 that lasted several hours.

 :dizzy:

Oh and one other thing is that when I run AVG virus scan I usually see several system DLL files listed as "change". This is because the virus scan is just recognizing that those files have been updated I think. However this time there was a new file listed under them called ntoskrnl.exe which is apparently a file that can give boot issues when it's corrupted. So I'm wondering if that file got corrupted and windows fixed it?
