Which would you choose?
« on: November 12, 2007, 04:39:37 PM »
I know I have been called gadget boy here, but bear with me, I am curious about a choice here.

Would you take HD DVD-ROM over More VRAM?

The price isn't that much different, so which one would you choose?  The reason?  They try to put different setup in notebook computers in order to get a match on price.  Here it is:

American.

Canadian.

Given the exchange rate right now, I am not too worry about the price.  But given the choice is quite exclusive, I am not sure what to choose.

I'd go for the DVD-ROM computer.
It comes with 2 gigs. The other only comes with 1 gig with the possibility of upgrading to 4. That'll make it more expensive.

2 is just fine nowadays

I'd go for the one with 512MB VRAM sicne you can't really uprade the video-card, but you CAN upgrade the memory. Then you can either buy mroe RAM now or at a later date.

Oh. Oops. Didn't read it right >.>
Yikes! over 1200MB possible vram is just nuts! But very shiny :)
I'd also consider the sound card attached. But yeah, vram is good. I take back my previous statement :P

So go for the Canadian one then?  I'll probably pick up another 1 gig for the computer, maybe they can install it for me.

Would it be possible for them to install XP for me?  Or is that a manufacturer's problem?

Manufacturers tend to stick software up their noses, as far as I can tell.
Drop hints at every step along the way. Eventually they'll forget and install Vista, but when you ask about XP they'll say "oh yeah!" and install it free of charge >.>
