I'm done with Adobe...
« on: December 01, 2015, 07:28:02 PM »
Other than MicroSoft, they are the most bloated, resource consuming and intrusive Windows software out there.

Some of their past bugs have been notorious, and some of their new ones are insidious.

It doesn't help that I have a crap laptop with a crap processor (i3) but still... Adobe is 'bad'.

I finally looked around and found some alternatives to Adobe Reader; I found quite a few.  I settled for 'Foxit', and it seems pretty solid (and free).

After I got it installed (and verified that it worked), I uninstalled all things Adobe (Reader, Flash, etc), and my system performance has improved significantly.  I'm never going back to those bastards.

We just moved away from Reader as a firm, we've been stuck on reader 10 due to various plug in issues and amongst the variety of wonderful things it does is a tendancy for it not to exit gracefully and leave a process running taking up a full processor core / thread; this can happen multiple times.

In a corporate environment thier cloud software sucks, you need to open up a massive amount of ports so you end up having to download and package the programs and updates just mitigate risk.  Don't get me started on flash....

The overheads in time, maintenence and system resource Adobe takes up makes it far more bothersome than windows from my perspective, I'd rather keep it away from my desktop environment but alas people keep treating their crappy software as if they are standards.

Grumble, grumble, rant, rant.

We need to have an icon that allows me to give a 'thumbs up' for a post.
