What's going on in your life?

Mmmmm my work life looks like it's taking a turn for the better.

I have a LONG commute to my current job. So my employer asked how I liked it.

Jen: It's okay.

Employer: You don't sound too convincing.

Jen: Oh sorry. I like the job, the work is good, the people are nice and I like working with you. It's just the commute is very long. But that's on me. I accepted the job.

Employer: Maybe we can do something where you work from home?

So I'm on a test run to see how I can do my writing from home. My OLD employer just sent out a feeler (the good kind, not the kind Bluecross gives at Patrick's Pub) asking if I was interested in part time contract work.

If this works out it will be AWESOME. Working at home is awesome for many people.

I already got past that first hump when I first worked from home. eg. When a person first works at home there a tendency to think you'll have so much free time.

Wow. I don't have to drive to work! That's a few hours a day that I'm saving! That's true but there's a temptation to slack.

You start to work, and the television is on because you need noise in the house. Oh! It's that movie you haven't seen? Well... it's ok. You saved time by not driving. Finish the movie and it takes about 30 minute to get back into the groove. Mmmm... I'm hungry. Let me go drive to Del Taco. You know. There's no time clock. Let my drop off my drycleaning... come back two hours later. The end of the day comes and you realize that you only worked a few hours.

Thankfully I don't do that anymore. Just a few breaks to play with the puppy. =) I can also go to 'work' in my tank top and wrap around.

Well not much from my corner of the world. Its not so much as war going then perhaps aggressive peace keeping in good ol' Baghdad. The people carry as they always have and perhaps always will. Not much these days going except perhaps the occasional crack of a rifle or we're finding old ordinance to blow up in place and we end up having to pay for the windows broken.

Not much else.... But for your enjoyment... Some pictures!

Funny... those children remind me of the children I used to see in Mexico. The buildings are crumbling around them but they still have a big ol smile.

Sometimes it's amazing to think one of our own is out there.
