Fallout 1, 2 And Tactics Free At GOG
« on: December 12, 2013, 07:06:00 PM »
Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics are offered free at GOG for a limited time (1 day + 19h left currently). I never cared to try Tactics before, but now that it's available for free, I added it to my GOG library so that I can give it a go one of these days.

Shit... talk about Ninja'd
The sun beyond the mountain glows
The yellow river seaward flows
You can enjoy a grander sight
By climbing to a greater height

I have run out of places to climb. I will abandon this body and take to the air. We will leave twin vapor trails in the air, white lines etched into these rocks. I am the aerial. In my passing, I will send news to each and every star.

I saw that (even though i have the disc... but i lost it)

Tried to sign up but, the traffic caused server crashes.

Is tactics worth playing?

Tactics was sort of interesting and in isolation I'm sure it was a solid game if not for the bugs, but the lack of RPG just made it jarring for me.  I always hoped for some kind of total conversion story line.

These are downloading as I type, FO on the mac? Yes please!  I can't be bothered dos boxing or installing windows so this is great.

Never had Tactics before, but these are actually my third copies of Fallout 1 & 2. I didn't originally know about the censoring in the European version, so I decided to switch it to the American one for some extra money in the store. As for Fallout 2, I stressed that I wanted the American version and not the European one when I ordered the game on phone from a different store. I ended up getting the European version anyway and had to fight my case with the superior of the sales person for quite some time until he gave up and bought me the American one with his own money. I was told to send the European version back to the store, but I got it back later with a message saying they don't accept returns. So I had to send it again :)

The server load was pretty bad for me too. I kept trying for a good 15 minutes until I got the games on my account.

I liked Tactics as a game but not so much as a Fallout game.
I haven't played many strategy games like it but it's pretty decent IMO.
