Heard from the lawyers today
« on: July 26, 2013, 03:23:50 AM »
Their side wants three months to assess whether they are liable.

Have to say I don't agree with this - Blue Coat could have let the case go to their people.

Yes, the Bursar took four months off, but someone must have been signing cheques.

I would shout and scream if it did any good.

And as to the questions their people ask, well, I will answer their questions.
I am thinking of changing my title to "He who must only be mentioned in passing".

I wish you luck.
All right, I’ve been thinking, when life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man whose gonna burn your house down – with the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!

Dude, Xerxes, I'm interested in your life, man.  I feel like we've both been bouncing around the board for like, almost a decade at this point.  That being said, "IF ANYONE ASKS QUESTIONS I WILL ANSWER THEIR QUESTIONS"?

Come on, man.  Just blather.  I'm interested!  I'm sure as fuck not gonna respond to a demand for a response though.

I'd use this one in my sig if I didn't already have a better one from you.

Sorry!

It's just you chaps are about the only people outside my family who (a) know this and (b) know me. Posting here helps me vent.

Point taken - there will be less updates in future.

A slightly more considered reply.

I have been using this board to vent steam to people who know me. I will try and contribute more regular stuff in the future, but this court case has taken up much of my time and attention over the past few months - it's about the only big thing happening in my life. There will not be any more lawyer stuff for three months, as the other side's insurers have asked for a delay of that long, and after that I will try and keep it to a minimum (and am open to ideas - keeping it all in one thread seems like a good idea, but it will still get bumped each time there's something new).

Anyway, Thanatos, your point is well taken. I have been using this board, not being part of it, and I will try and amend matters in future.

Is anyone interested in a picture of my new panda bear?

Again, my apologies.

I figured you needed a venting spot and imo it's more important cor you get it out and see it on "paper" than to have replies.

That being said, panda?
In case of rapture, can I have your car?

Indeed. It makes a difference to know that someone, somewhere, cares enough to read my venting.

As for the panda, there is a picture enclosed. His name is Everton, after the mints, and he looked like a sad panda in the shop so I bought him, brought him home, and he now looks like a happy panda as you can see.
He also unfolds into a cushion.

Dude, what?  Xerxes, I think you completely missed my point!  Look at the stuff I said first, where I said "I am interested in your life" and "just vent, man"!  That wasn't, like, irony or bullshit or whatever.  The point I was trying to make was that you clearly wanted to vent but you didn't want to be the kind of asshole who just blathers on like I do, so you posted a bunch of coy bullshit to invite people to ask, but you don't have to do that, man!  Here's where I did think you were being a little silly; I was saying you were, like, baiting us to ask you about your current situation so you had an excuse to talk about it.  But I wasn't saying don't talk about it; I was saying you don't need an excuse.  If you wanna talk about something, just fucking talk about it.  I'm sure I'll be interested!

In conclusion:  I was not trying to tell you not to talk about your stuff.  I was trying to tell you to talk about your stuff, but I did it poorly because I'm a drunk.

Re reading, I think I did misunderstand you. It was the "I'm sure as fuck not gonna respond to a demand for a response though." bit that threw me. Anyway, I did need to reconsider my attitude to this board. The questions I was referring to were the questions in the letter their insurers sent me, not questions here: I should have made that clear. They asked fourteen questions, which were upsetting me because they were (a) asking things that they'd know if they'd actually read the paperwork, or (b) asking for stuff that is in the other paperwork that they'll get in due course, or (c) quite frankly rude and upsetting questions to try and put me off. The specific sentence at the end of my post was intended as a "full ahead both and damn the torpedoes". My solicitor sent me the letter from them just before she went away for three weeks, and her answers to ten of the fourteen questions amount to "I'll ask Xerxes and let you know". Anyway, either way, mea culpa, and we've both explained what we mean.

*offers hand*

The three month bit is that the other side have finally got their fingers out and got their insurers involved. They've asked for three months to investigate from their side, which is fair enough. So, by October it'll either be settled (which my lawyer and barrister both think is what is going to happen), or it won't, and it'll be listed for court.

Oh and while we're on the subject of bears, please find enclosed a photo of Poley. He lives by my bed so is there whenever I want a cuddle.
