Some better news (well, sort of)
« on: October 20, 2012, 08:26:30 PM »
My appeal against withdrawal of benefit was accepted by the tribunal in its entirety, so I'm on support rate ESA for at least six months, and my solicitors have put me in touch with another chap who was abused at my boarding school. It looks like bad things were happening at that school for at least 25 years, and the current score of paedophile teachers there is at five and counting. It's just nice to be able to talk to someone who's been there.

*doesn't quite do the happy dance, but smiles*
I am thinking of changing my title to "He who must only be mentioned in passing".

I'm glad to hear things are looking up.
In case of rapture, can I have your car?

Good to see you've got some kind of support available there.

We've got a parliamentary enquiry going on over here into sexual abuse by catholic priests at the moment.  It was pointed out last week that of all the cases investigated by the church, none were then referred on to the police by the church.

The other point that was brought up that I thought was noteworthy was that it generally takes 20-30 years for the abuse to be reported by the victims.  So it's hard to know whether the abuse was stamped out in the 80's or if we're just waiting for the victims to report it.

Well, the Bishop is now involved, as Chair of the Governors, and there's a big meeting on Friday. Current score - three complaining survivors, five paedophile teachers, an overpromoted music teacher as headmaster who's now trying to brush the whole matter under the carpet. Radio interview afterwards, too (admittedly local radio). One housemaster sacked for abusing kids - at that school in the 80s, what that must have meant for them to actually sack him makes me shudder.

Wish me luck, chaps!

Xerxes.

Good luck!
All right, I’ve been thinking, when life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man whose gonna burn your house down – with the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!

Oh, and Liz worked in child protection services for the Illinois State Attorney office when she was in law school. She wishes you luck as well and says you're very brave for confronting all this and speaking out.

I'm glad to here that, I doubt those people will get what they truly deserve, but anything is better than nothing right?
Give 'em hell, best you can! :)

The sun beyond the mountain glows
The yellow river seaward flows
You can enjoy a grander sight
By climbing to a greater height

I have run out of places to climb. I will abandon this body and take to the air. We will leave twin vapor trails in the air, white lines etched into these rocks. I am the aerial. In my passing, I will send news to each and every star.

Mrs Brown says: 'Hapiness is an effect, not a goal.'

Charlie is yelling @barit0wned
PC: A spider laid eggs inside my body and I need to get them out before they hatch
DM: You'll need the spider's permission first...

Thanks, my friends. Looks like the local paper and radio station are interested. Hopefully there aren't any more people who went through it, but if there are I hope they come forward, if that makes sense.

Used my benefits back pay to buy the (very nice) Mac mini I am typing this on. Everyone to the Bastard Bar to celebrate! First barrel's on me!
