But is it art?

Apparently there is an exhibition on showing... nothing.

Is it art? Or anything for that matter?
The sun beyond the mountain glows
The yellow river seaward flows
You can enjoy a grander sight
By climbing to a greater height

I have run out of places to climb. I will abandon this body and take to the air. We will leave twin vapor trails in the air, white lines etched into these rocks. I am the aerial. In my passing, I will send news to each and every star.

Not in the slightest, and I hope some-one has the sense and argumentative skill to sue them for plagiarism. Maybe the frame makers...

What a great idea!

I'm gonna make a blank web page and charge people to see it!

Do you think $15 a viewing is too much?

It does bring up the question, did the emperor just have a superior sense of fashion when he bought his new clothes? Are we really the ones with the problem?

I'm pretty sure that's the case.

I have a special kind of hatred for minimalist art. Rather than making something that, god forbid shows personality and that some people might criticise, or worse yet hate, the minimalist creates nothing and acts all pretentious about it.

The worst thing of all is that people have started to let them and buy into it. Paying them will only encourage them, and thanks to exhibitions like this and glorifying, let's face it, crap 'art', we've got another wave of them coming. Thankfully though, it's having a reverse-effect in some places and driving people back to fine art, something we should never have moved away from. Hopefully one of my fine artist friends will make it, and we can be all the better off for it.

When one is displaying "nothing" as something, and believes it to be so important, what does that mean in the case of their thoughts?

Either they would be an interesting person to discuss things with.... or they would be the most disapointing to talk with. in this case my money is on disapointing.

A novice was trying to fix a broken Lisp machine by turning the power off and on.
Knight, seeing what the student was doing, spoke sternly: "You cannot fix a machine by just power-cycling it with no understanding of what is going wrong."
Knight turned the machine off and on.
The machine worked.

It's probably my view on humanity that influences this opinion, but... In all honesty I don't blame the people who made this exhibition... I blame the morons who pay £8 for a ticket to see blank A4 sheets of paper... hell if I knew people were this stupid, I would probably do the same.

In fact  ;D I might.
