Again!?!   :stunned:

She's okay. Thank goodness she was at law school when it happened. Needless to say, she is a little shaken up (and so is her roommate). But she's not doing too badly. She was actually going to sleep at her place last night, but her sister refused to let her. She's driving out to my place today to hang out. (She'll actually be here in about 10 minutes.)

Thanks for the concern.
All right, I’ve been thinking, when life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man whose gonna burn your house down – with the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!

I hope she is alright.  She should get a double window or something.

Anyway, going home after a 4 days overlay in Hong Kong.  Surprisingly, I am not really looking forward to it.  One of my flights starts at 12 AM!  And the other thing is that my mom sold my favourite house in the family.  Say good bye to the fresh air, sunshine and the garden.   :bigcry:

Carib has pretty toys.
A buddy of mine just came back from Iraq. He brought a knife as a souvenir, and gave it to his dad. Then he told us the story.
::incoming crazy stuff and slight language::

Apparently he was sleeping in an armored personnel vehicle, and heard a clanking sound at the hatch and it opened up, so he figured it was one of his buddies trying to get him to help with something or switch out, and then he saw an arm with a knife come in. So he jumped out and wrestled the guy to the ground, but couldn't get the knife out of his hand, and he kept trying to get the guy to stop moving so he could question him, but he kept trying to fight. So his sarge came up and shot the guy in the face. He looked up and said "Weren't we supposed to question him?"
His sarge said "fuck it, he wasn't going to say anything useful."
So apparently it's illegal to take things like assassin knives off of your enemies, but it's not illegal for a translator to pick it up and buy it off of them for ten bucks.

Craziest knife ever.

I discovered the effects of the Las Vegas Desert. I'm getting these sort of 'burns' on my skin. They're patches of redness on my skin that feel like a minor burn. I've even gotten a few raised welt areas similar to poison ivy reactions. They're going away now but I have to use a lot of skin cream.

Oh... there's a great deal of static electricity in the air. My air goes up in the air like when you touch those static balls at the science museum. I've been using my Chi to hold down my hair. Also, my formerly NON-Electric blanket generates sparks at night when I move the blanket around. These are sparks that are very visible in the nighttime.

I also joined a few of the clubs in Vegas to meet people and we've been hanging around the dog parks so Junie can play. The only thing 'bad' is that she's giving off pheromones so the male dogs are going crazy around her.

Well... bad news. I've known for a few days but I haven't spoken about it yet. It's hard to talk about it.

My boyfriend's father has Stage 4 Lung Cancer. This is where he stands.

It's incurable, just treatable. This means he will be undergoing Chemo to extend his life so he can do more things with the family. Assuming he's healthy enough to travel, we're flying/inviting him out to Vegas so he can spend some time here. He's never seen Vegas before and it's something we want to do for him. Whatever he wants to do within possibility will be given to him but we're hoping to get a picture of him in the Captain's Chair at the Hilton and take him to some Cirque shows. These are subjects that my boyfriend and Dad share so it would be very special.

This is obviously affecting my boyfriend a great deal. Him and his father have a 'Best Friend' friendship.  This is the last parent he's got left. My boyfriend's sister has to deal with telling her own children that 'Grandpa' will be leaving soon. She hasn't gotten around to it because she looks at their faces and wants them to stay innocent just a bit longer. She's not the kind to coddle her kids but she's working herself up to telling them.

So it's been very sad in our household right now. We've been alternating between feeling sad and doing things to make us laugh so we're in good spirits. Sometimes we've been doing very trivial things like posting to gaming forums or playing web games because we're trying to take a break from the subject.

So we're hoping to give him a good year of nice experiences and to create some nice memories.

I was going to type more stuff but it all seems hollow. Hug is all.

Thanks for the hugs (and to the future hugs)

Don't worry about typing more.

Sometimes that's all I can think to post when it happens to other people.

It's either Hugs, *HUGGS* or *DEEP HUGS* or Sorry.

*big hugs* (I have big hands, what can I say?)

Sucks when news like this hits you, gone though it myself and it never gets easy. Give him the ebst memories you can, and be sure to treasure him while he's still around (as it sounds like you're planning to :) ).

That sucks Dooms, I lost an uncle over the weekend that I was fond of but haven't seen for a while I can sort of identify.

I found out today that I didn't need to be quite as afraid of picking up my last essay as I was, I got a 16 on the common assesment scale (goes up to 20) so I'm still in the upper second class degree range if I decide to complete honours.  I honestly thought I was going to get an 11 at best.

I worked the government, and then I didn't.
Now I don't work.

One more semester to go before I graduate, might do a masters.

Going to get working on my post-university-zero-risk(TM) business venture with a friend of mine, software development house focusing on the handheld/portable market. We plan on targeting parents with children, girls, and boys who like ponies with sub-par shovelware designed exclusively for the "casual" gamer. We hope to attract publishers with our no nonsense business angle and shear weight of marketable IP's.

This is a secret plan. Shhhhhssssssssshhhhh.

Although this post doesn't have much to do with my life per se, it does happen to do with the weather and that always a conversation starter.

So yesterday I go outside to hitch a ride on the bus to school, wearing a T-shirt and pants, while the temperature was a wonderfully pleasent 71 ° F (~22 °C). As I get to school, I think to myself "Oh what a Nice Day!"

And then someone happens to mention that is was supposed to snow that day. "Ha what a Joke. Could never happen on such a nice day as today!" I tell them.
And so, a few hours (4) later, all hell let's go. Suddenly out of nowhere, winds come flying up the arse out of nowhere, and like magic the temp drops. A lot. The winds fly by at some freakish speeds I have never felt before. Then it starts sleeeting, and hailing.  Oh yeah, snow also. Although it didn't snow for long, the temperature went from what it was before, to about 15 °F (~-9 °C) in 6 hours.

And thats all I have to say about that.  :)

I am pleased. =) A little girl at the bus stop asked if I was a super hero. I said no and asked why she thought that.

"It's cold but it's not bothering you because you're in a dress."

I probably should have said: "Yes... but I can't tell you which one. But here's a hint. See these two bracelets?"

=)
