I've never been a fan of impractical nurses so I think you're choosing the right path on that.
All right, I’ve been thinking, when life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man whose gonna burn your house down – with the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!

I finally got a part time job, at a certain casual upscale sandwich shop chain, for minum wage (which is $7.65 here in Mo).  I think that any job that pays their employees less than $8.00 an hour doesn't take their employees seriously, at that point they are just nickel and diming people to poverty. I told myself I would not make any less than that (since thats what I started at my last job as a cashier two and a half years ago). I was tempted to tell the manager to fuck off, and walk out, but I was desperate enough not to. At least it seems pretty easy and modestly fun and casual, and it will be at a brand new store very close to my house.

I spend pretty much all my time job searching online, which may sound kind of lazy until you realize that most places that aren't restaurants do applications online in 2015 and not in store. Or at the least, they advertise jobs online.  Even the ones that don't, need a copy of your application and resume anyway. Its a waste of time and gas to go to 5 places in an afternoon, only to have 3 of them tell you to apply online, and other two take your application but shove it under the other 50 and never call you back.
Jobs and I don't have a great relationship; I have worked some seriously unpaying laborious jobs and I basically refuse to put my body at physical risk for a job ever again. Sometimes, working culture in the U.S. seems like modern indentured servitude, especially compared to those Europeans with their required vacation time and socialized healthcare darn them.

I have first months rent saved up for a place and i'd like to move out by May.

Job hunting is quite frustrating, and the past 6 moths have been pretty grueling. Working multiple jobs is now fairly common too, what the hell happened?

To pass the time I've been making mods for Left 4 Dead, I've added a UV easter egg to one of them, so I hope to increase traffic here. :)

Oooh ooh.. Which one(s)? I love that game - are they available from the Steam Workshop? Gimme links, man!

Excellent news about the job Killmod!

I'm glad that worked out for you.  :)

Man... This is old but fortunately I managed to find a link to the mod.

It's also on l4dmaps.com, if you prefer a manual installation.

Sadly, no one's noticed the UV reference yet, in the comments.

After using a computer nearly everyday for 13 years I finally joined the OSX masterrace. Meaning that I bought an 8 year old iMac for $200 running OSX Lion. I can now say that I've used all 3 major Operating Systems yay. I like Apple, and I think their design is generally great, but its not perfect. And some of their pricing is absurd.

This Semester is getting close to the end. Japanese is tough, but thankfully this is the only year I am required to take. My major requires me to spend a year learning a language and spending some time overseas, which I am planning to spend 2 weeks in Japan in about a year. I have never been overseas. Unfortunatly I have at least 3 more semesters of college.

Still Driving the Volvo 240. I had to replace a $160 mass air flow sensor in December, but it has run great during the rest of the winter and until now. I love my car, but I want something faster and sexier; my dream is to get a 2 door coupe version with a turbo for my "classic garaged car" when i'm older. In February, when I was visiting my girlfriend I stupidly went in 4 inches of snow with bad tires. I barely made it back; I had a terrifying experience going down a narrow one lane lane expressway on the highway. My car did a 180 and luckily I pulled the handbrake in time to slide 18 inches from the barrier. It was intense.

currently working but they cut my hours in half. The job is rather enjoyable but working 3 hour shifts pushes my toleration. Looking for a full time summer job.

so erm yeah thats whats going on in my life now

I've been promoted to IT service desk co-ordinator. I manage a team, drive the IT support, develop our desktop build and am generally an IT smarty pants. Life is good.

I started a new job last monday. Been with AVEVA (UK company) for nearly 8 years, so it felt a bit strange. But now I can cross being headhunted off my bucket list. So far the new job is awesome.

Taking a few summer classes and I just got a full time job at Starbucks. My goal is to move out by the end of the summer. Most days during the week i'm essentially busy from 8:30am-9:30pm. I have also been drug free for 6 weeks. Been in a relationship for the past few months, she keeps my ass in line, but due to our conflicting schedules I don't see her as much as I'd like to. My great aunt died a few days ago at 93; She was an extraordinarily kind person, a big inspiration in my life for the value of happiness, contentedness, and keeping faith in god. She never had any children either, which I think may be part of the reason why she always seemed so happy. However, for the past year or so she had been struggling with dementia/alzheimer's, which is a big personal fear for me so I didn't see her, for fear that she wouldn't remember me. By the sounds of things, she was ready to go though.

I got accepted to a nearby university that has Museum Studies for me, so I'm excited for that. I'm taking a Physical Education class over the summer since my Associates Degree demands one, so I decided to do Boot Camp Fitness (Hopefully my ass won't get kicked). It's been a slow life so far. Maybe I'll join the French Foreign Legion to make it interesting.
But it'll help

Long story short, I forced myself out of my parents house after a dramatic incident involving them that put my safety at risk. Living with some other family members on the other side of town for the past week, but I don't plan on being here for long. Not sure where I'll live in the coming weeks. Still working full time and going to school. I seriously hate working sometimes, especially full time something I don't particular enjoy doing. Getting trapped in the idea that a person should work 40 hours a week for 40 years and then retire just to enjoy life's pleasures seems like accepting basically indentured servitude as a fact of life. Especially nowadays its unrealistic for millenials. I don't see myself living that kind of lifestyle forever, even if it works.
My parents have serious problems, especially together, that I spent a lot of time trying to fix. But seeing the same problems for 5, 10, 20 years made me realize that people never really change. I still love them, and I won't hold anything against them, but I can't live with them again. They just think differently than I do. Oh, and also my gf left me the other day. Icing on the fucking shit cake. I didn't care very much. I hate dating, the thought of getting to know someone on a personal and deep level and building trust only for them to pull the plug, decide they're not into you, and you lose all investment and effort you made. I have enough trouble trusting people I've known my entire life, why would I trust a total stranger?
Anyway, I'll probably keep you all updated... Hope that I don't have to live out of my Volvo

After a week and a half, I moved back in with my parents for the time being. I'm a very stubborn person who hates asking for help. I could have kept on running, but I chose to go back to them, on my own terms, and felt like the smart thing to do was save up money for a place this fall. I'm grateful that the rest of my family cares about my safety, and was willing to board me for even longer. I hate turning this into an online journal, but the past 2 weeks have given me a lot of perspective. I spent a lot of time trying to fix their problems (because I felt like they directly affected me), but some things can't be "fixed". Even as an adult in mid 20s I can say that my parents think differently from me, and thats okay. I like to think that by the magic of genetics I have the best of their traits and none of the worst ;)

Edit: Everyday I wake up and still am grateful that my father survived his severe heart attack more than a ago, and wonder how things could have been. There are probably many different dimensions where he didn't survive, but thank fully I only have to experience one of them.
