Snagged my copy today. This is the first time I've had such a hard time finding a store that would break release date, but my friends from Jersey had to drive to Newark to find a store breaking the streetdate.

Still, me and just shy of a dozen of my friends have been playing up a storm all night, and tomorrow I get to hit the lab with a solid day of training mode. I'm so glad I snagged it on the weekend. Releasing a game on a Tuesday? Seriously?

I remember when a game of the year edition came out on a tuesday, I had to wait another week to get it...
Then the guy behind the counter pretended it didn't exist.

I might get it on thursday.

If you want it for single player content, I really wouldn't get it.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game, but there is maybe 3 hours of single player content. This game was definitely built to be a multiplayer experience

I got SC:V, I only have 1 question: Where the hell are half the cast? Talim, Yeong Seung, Seong Mina, Rock etc... were all missing without an explanation.

I know that the soul series has done this a few times (like Rock wasn't in Soul Calibur 2 and was replaced by Berserker but returned in Soul Calibur 3), but never this mainy characters just randomly disapear Sophitia's disapearance is explained but I still don't know what happened to Cassandra.

The character creation has improve, you can do all sorts of awesome stuff now simular to Broken Destiny.
Last week I made a Joshua Graham inspired warrior with banages and what not, the only problem is there is not much you can do with a created character anymore.

I personally love taking the thumb nail pic you can do almost anything with that.

Yeah that was a big disappointment to a lot of people. The guess at the moment is that they're following the capcom trend of holding some characters back to release as DLC.

I'd also read a rumor that they actually had Talim more or less ready to go, but when the earthquake/tsunami hit, the servers that held all of her renderings, animations and frame data was destroyed. That doesn't seem all that believable though, probably just a rumor.

I'm still dealing with the fact that Voldo is *way* worse than he was in 4. Granted, Soul Calibur 4 Voldo was the best he's ever been, but I'm fairly certain SC 5 Voldo may be the worst he's ever been.

Agreed, I found out that you can actually see his face! (without bandages or anything)
You would think this would be some big reveal but no... I was fighting him and I smashed his helmet off and there was his face and it was horribly disapointing.

and I hope that they don't do the DLC thing it was bad enough when they did it in Dragon Age with Shale...

I more meant how good he was, and not just how he looks aesthetically. Although, seriously, fuck the fuzzy fur.

Also, I just had some ink-work recently to show, not so much my love of the *game* but what the game and the tournament community has come to mean to me, and how many close friends I've met through playing the game.

Yeah, I have all the DLC up to and including Dampierre, but I haven't gotten the stuff that I think came out last week.

Does anyone else find it really disapointing that the best thing that Namco can release is a couple of swim suits?
How about some classic armors or weapons?
Or hell even some new stuff!

I quite liked Dampierre (even if he was available for free in broken destiny) and that head gear pack but nothing else felt like it's worth a download...
