That's seriously fucked up.

I remember how cool I thought it was that MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson) voiced Killian and Freddie Brooks from A Different World (Cree Summer) voiced Tandi.

And I remember the first time Ian shot me in the back. It would be the first of many times.

And then he trapped me on the bridge that one time and I hadn't saved in a while and lost a lot of progress when I had to reload.

Ian was a dick when you think about it.

New year to you as well.

It'll be hard-pressed to be worse than the last year for the world as a whole. (Liz and I did all right last year.)

Good to see you, Petrarch.

Glad to hear the family's doing well.

I'll be 30 in a few months. It doesn't matter to me much. The weirdest thing is how many people I knew from highschool are married with families now.

I'm 44, and there's at least one grandparent from my high school class, and most of the others have children. (I graduated from a small public school of 206 students; there were 46 in my class, which was the smallest of the four classes. The freshman class had around 75 students.)

I don't even have kids yet...though Liz and I are planning on starting this month. She's 38, due to our age we're pretty much getting to the "now or never" stage.

Maybe with Obsidian back in the picture (AKA some of the guys from Interplay who made FO1 and FO2, and later went on to make FO:NV) we can get a sequel to FO:NV or at least FO:5 won't feel like a FPS with RPG elements as FO4 did.

I picked up miniature painting as a hobby, which is a very relaxing non-electronical passtime.

There are indoor pastimes that don't involve gaming?

That posts looks like it's having a rough go of things.

So for those of you, who like 'so bad they're good' movies, the name James Nguyen may stick out to you. He's the creator of such films as Birdemic, Julie and Jack and the long lost Replica.

He has since come out of the woodworks with another utopian vision, which basically promises us human immortality.

Is he going to make Julie and Jack's VR Ghost program a reality? Or Replica's cloning technology a retirement plan?

You'll have to forgive me for not putting much faith in it, regardless. If he can't make exploding CGI birds look realistic (from more than a distance!), I dunno if I trust him with my body or immortal soul.

Maybe I'm wrong though, could James Nguyen be the TRUE founder of the Institute?

The site does mention using nanobots to extend human life. I guess we'll all be cyborgs in the future.

Still alive. Still here.

Haven't been impacted too much by the Covid thing. Still at the same workplace I've been for the past two years and change. They've announced that they aren't going to give out raises this year, but considering in the 20+ years I've been doing software this is the first time I've never gotten a raise, and with the world as it is right now, I'm okay with that.

My side business got screwed over by a competitor who decided to sue us with no real basis for the suit under trade practice law. We got them to drop the case in a "walk-away" settlement after about six months of litigation where it got to the point that we would have succeeded in dismissal. So the corporation (i.e. my business partner and I) is in debt to the lawyer a good amount. (Liz did some of the work, but this is not her area of expertise, so we had to hire a specialist in this as well.)

Speaking of Liz, we're still going strong after 13.5 years. Still not married due to her loans from law school, and she's still doing the crusading attorney thing. We're thinking of trying for children later this year since I'm 43 and she turns 38 tomorrow so we're approaching the ages we're at the point where it's kind of now or never due to our ages.

Unwashed Village / Re: Getting The Gang Back Together For 76?
« on: March 22, 2020, 04:22:40 PM »
I never played 76 so I doubt I'll get this version, either. Even if it is better.

Bethesda should just give the Fallout Universe back to Obsidian. (I.e. the guys formerly of Interplay's Black Isle Studios who made the first two Fallouts and got a license from Bethesda to make Fallout:  New Vegas).

Obsidian actually knows how to craft engaging worlds with interesting people.

The game I'm most excited about getting is Disco Elysium.

Granted, I'm waiting for it to come down in price.

I don't spend more than $20 on a game these days. Mainly because I have so many games in my various libraries that I will never have time to play them all anyway.

Heck, usually I won't spring for a game until it's $15 or less, and that's only for the really good games.

Ditto.

Assuming we actually make it through this year.

Not surprised it's good.

Outer Worlds is Obisidian. Obsidian are an offshoot of Interplay (Black Isle Studios division). The people who founded it are the same ones who made Fallout 1, and while they left before Fallout 2 was finished, worked on the team that did FO2 for about 90% of the production (some of those on the team for FO2 that stayed on with Interplay through the release would later join Obsidian when Interplay folded).

They also were the studio that made Fallout:  New Vegas, having licensed the FO3 engine. And FO:  NV is considered the best of the modern Fallouts.

Obsidian really is one of the best gaming companies out there.
