Johnny Cash - Ain't No Grave

Nuff said.
Ahha, thank you! There was a song in the back of my mind that I couldn't put my finger on; your post jogged my memory!

When the autoplay comes up there should be a checkbox for "always choose this option when I plug this device in"
If you choose "do nothing" and check the "always" box that should fix the problem, I think.  Unless it's seeing it as a different device every time.
Windows 7 doesn't seem to have that option like Windows XP does.  I just poked around for a few minutes before going to work, but it seems that Windows 7 only has an overall ON/OFF switch for AutoRun/AutoPlay, or On/Off for different file types, but I couldn't find anywhere that one could adjust AutoRun/AutoPlay settings for individual USB devices.... Odd, that.

Loveshack, you could try going to Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/AutoPlay and changing settings (like setting Mixed Content = Do Nothing) there, but that probably will also affect any other USB device you happen to plug in.

I wouldn't think plugging them into different ports would matter, but if you had any software installed with the devices, maybe reinstall the software might help..?

Oh, there is a listing for Devices (toward the bottom of the page) under Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/AutoPlay, but nothing shows up in that list for me, even when I have my little 2GB Kingston or my external HD plugged in; you might try looking in that list and seeing if your external drives show up there, you may be able to change individual device settings if they do.

Hrm.  "This video has been removed by the user."  One can still find it on YouTube, though.

Isn't that kinda promoting cannibalism, when you dress your man-shaped hot dog up as a person and then eat it...?  Maybe they're soylent hot dogs... 0_^

Also: Jameson and Dr. Pepper is henceforth known as Dr. Jameson, and he has the cure for most forms of fatigue and depression. If you're Irish. Or German. Or French. Or all three.
Well I'll be damned! I thought I was the only Bastard crazy enough to drink Jameson and Dr Pepper!  Nice!  Dr Pepper and Captain Morgan's is also fun!  But Jameson 12 Year, and a little of the Doctor...mmmm mmmm, very tasty indeed!

My entire point is to see how many people we have up and viewing the board.  I want to revitalize this place.  The ghost town vibe is getting to me and i see some members quite literally collecting dust and cobwebs.  Other than BC Even!
I think I voted Bagels, but I can't be sure if I'm awake right now, so I can't tell you if I'm alive or not.  I'll leave a note for the bagel to ask me again when I wake up tomorrow afternoon.

Unwashed Village / Re: Online Piracy

I used to be somewhat anti-pirate, but now I don't care - my stance has definitely softened. I look at it this way: if you had the disposable income, you'd likely just buy it, as it's always more time consuming to take it. Hence, I don't see the pirate as a lost customer - I see him or her as someone who would not have bought it in the first place.
I agree with this almost in its entirety...the only difference being I never had the anti-pirate phase. :)

Also, in what Shady said about PC Gaming.... it's prettymuch dead. There was no bigger PC Gamer than I - I still have 100+ games in my back room that I just can't part with. But the gaming experience on the xbox 360 and a PC are night and day. PC's are still great for strategy games (I wish they'd do another Myth game), but that's about it - the xbox does everything else waaaaay better.
Be forewarned, its 4:30am here and what follows is kind of ramble-y...

I disagree with this on a few points.  One, I don't agree that PCs are only good for strategy games; I can't see playing an MMORPG like World of Warcraft, or Age of Conan on the XBox, there's just not enough 'control' with the controller when you have need of between 10 and 200 keybinds to activate combat abilities/professions/manipulate inventory or environment/etc/etc/*blink blink*/etc, (and I just wouldn't want to play Fallout in any form on a 'console'...that just wouldn't be right ;) )...

Which brings me to point number Two.  Your X-Box 360 is a PC. A 'set top' PC with an entirely different marketing scheme behind it.   In my opinion, 'consoles' have evolved into basically dumbed down* versions of PCs, at least from a technological aspect.  Let's see,  IBM triple-core PowerPC-based CPU, custom ATI GPU, 512MB memory, 20GB upgradeable hard drive, 3 USB ports, built in Ethernet, 802.11 A/B/G Wi-Fi...sounds like a PC to me!   Currently the only difference I see between a PC and a console gaming system (with one caveat) is how the user physically interfaces with the device; they've condensed the interface down to a vibrate-y controller with a dozen-ish buttons for consoles instead of the keyboard and mouse for PCs.  Otherwise, consoles are simply micro PCs with standardized components (which serves the purpose of virtually eliminating the multitude of bugs generated by the 'variable component spectrum' of PCs), different user interface device(s), and a different OS than your typical desktop PC.  Essentially, at least as I see it, 'console gaming' IS PC gaming.   (The one caveat I mentioned is the X-Box LIVE/Marketplace aspect, that has the desktop PC gaming experience beat hands down, imo.)  And unless you're referring to the All-Seeing Eye of Sauron err, I mean the Kinect, I personally don't see that big a difference between PC and console gaming, other than the stuff I've already mentioned...or forgot to mention...  Do they have motion controllers for PCs? Or keyboard/mouse that you can plug into your X-360? *rambles off*

*I use the term dumbed down in reference to the lack of the average end-user's ability to upgrade and/or replace components of consoles

I am here, and I know Jen is still around. And how are you?
I'm fine, thanks.  If I'm not working or sleeping (or marveling at the three and a half feet of snow that fell in the last couple days...it is March, right? ^_6 ), I'm playing WoW (or some other game that happened to catch my eye).  I check the board regularly, I just never have anything much to say... I'll pipe up every now and then, though!  Besides, being a dragon I tend to just sit, and watch, and blink a lot...   *blink blink*  *has flashbacks to ancient times in ICQ chats*  Ow.

That was my point with the shtick. (Oh God, did I just write that)
*shakes head*  You and your pointy shtick...geez...   ::)

If we want the community to continue, even if it isn't in the same form as before, we need something to bring people here. And right now, the "theme" is that we are all friends or varying degrees. But there is nothing to bring in fresh members.
I suggest blackjack...and hookers...and a lunar lander....and ale, of course!  Or maybe just strippers...and ale, can't forget the ale...   :o

P.S. Why the hell aren't the emoticons working?!  And has anybody heard from Doomsie lately?  Or Night Owl?  They seemed to be fairly active until recently...hrmmm...

as well as its inability to show the emoticons for messages in the Village.  Any ideas or personal experiences?
I think that's a Village specific problem; Firefox hasn't been showing emoticons here in the Village forums for me at all since the last server move, or somewhere thereabouts. (Just checked, IE doesn't show emoticons either).

Not sure about your other problem, but you could try asking BlueCross, he seems to have lots of luck finding people who can't answer the questions he's asking, as well...  ;-)
