Unwashed Village / Re: Getting The Gang Back Together For 76?

I played it for a while with my brother. Was mildly entertaining, but not really Fallout, imho. I'm not bothering with the battle royale. I'm waiting for the new Borderlands instead.

Frell.

Ok, you want the Village to thrive again? Here's my two caps:

1.  Bring back the Rat (oh yeah baby).

2.  We need a campaign.  I propose: "Get the village into Wasteland 2".  Surely Brian Fargo remembers us from the FO1 & 2 days.

2a. Someone mentioned a new game might breathe new life into the board... Wasteland is as close to FO as you're ever going to get - use it!

Ok. That's as much work as you're going to get out of me today.

Edit:  Get over to http://wasteland.inxile-entertainment.com/forum/index.php and put a link to this forum in your sig. I notice that Brother None is a moderator on the site. I never really got to know him, but I remember the name from back in the day.

Your house is steadily getting messier and more cluttered.

I think this one is less about a virus making the computer/human jump and more about an OS doing it.

I liked that toy!  I want to play with it some more!

Yeah... It's a FUN toy that one!   ;)

On the subject of Cassie, I'm going to side with Brug.  The potential for you to actually hurt her sounds quite real.  And that's never fun.

As for the earrings, for my money giving them to the next girl is tacky.  I'd lay them on a family member, or a friend who has no romantic inclination towards you.  Personally, I'd also tell the person where they came from, but that's me.

Unwashed Village / Re: The new Star Trek movie
« on: May 11, 2009, 04:20:22 AM »
Totally conflicted about this one.

First of all, in its own right, it was a fantastic movie.  As previously mentioned, Quinto was brilliant and the rest of the cast shined also.

However, the "oh, by the way, all the other star trek series and movies never actually happened" really cheesed me.  I know they had to do something about the fact that in some areas current technology actually exceeds that displayed in TOS, but I find it difficult to suspend my disbelief that a single starship being destroyed 25 years ago could change the timeline so drastically.

Anyway, as I say, a good movie on its own and definitely worth seeing.  It'll just take some time for me to adjust to the new timeline.

If it were written like this, I may have actually read it!  (I gave up after the first few chapters of Genesis).

3. The Cleric Quintet - R.A. Salvatore

Great read and it's five books in one so it's a cheap way to get around the five book limit.  Also Salvatore writes the best Dwarves ever.  :P

Ooooo-Oi!!

I never played Fountain of Dreams.  However, I did notice that the Wasteland wiki states:

On June 21, 2007, Brian Fargo said, "I am indeed looking into bringing back the game that spawned the Fallout series. Stay tuned...." in an interview with fan site Duck and Cover.

Haven't seen anything more recent about it, but I am keeping my ear to the ground.

The second sticky at the top of the board (the FO3 spoilers thread) is a good place to look for this kind of info.  However, if you're worried about the spoilers part, the executive summary is that people seemed to like it.  From my recollection of the thread there was general consensus that the atmosphere was good and the ending was terrible.  There was some initial concern that it would be Oblivion with guns, but most seemed happy with the way it turned out.

Oh, and it's nice to see that I'm not the only one who remembers Wasteland.  Did you spot the references to it in FO3?  Vax was probably the biggest one that I encountered.

edit:  And yes, that's an original Wasteland graphic to the left.

Who's Jan?

It's a reference to a yellow pages tv ad that you can find at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2akt3P8ltLM.  The phrase has since moved into the vernacular.

Oh, and I found the torrent without any real drama.  It turns out that I had seen the first episode before.  I enjoyed it, but that's not surprising since I love Joss' other works and I like the actors involved too.
