Still alive. Still here.

Haven't been impacted too much by the Covid thing. Still at the same workplace I've been for the past two years and change. They've announced that they aren't going to give out raises this year, but considering in the 20+ years I've been doing software this is the first time I've never gotten a raise, and with the world as it is right now, I'm okay with that.

My side business got screwed over by a competitor who decided to sue us with no real basis for the suit under trade practice law. We got them to drop the case in a "walk-away" settlement after about six months of litigation where it got to the point that we would have succeeded in dismissal. So the corporation (i.e. my business partner and I) is in debt to the lawyer a good amount. (Liz did some of the work, but this is not her area of expertise, so we had to hire a specialist in this as well.)

Speaking of Liz, we're still going strong after 13.5 years. Still not married due to her loans from law school, and she's still doing the crusading attorney thing. We're thinking of trying for children later this year since I'm 43 and she turns 38 tomorrow so we're approaching the ages we're at the point where it's kind of now or never due to our ages.

Sorry to hear about that bogus lawsuit. :(

Glad to hear that you and the Mrs are still going strong, I hope all of this works out for you. :)

Jesus! We are currently living in the biggest global crisis since world war 2. The proverbial works have had a proverbial spanner thrown into them this time!

Fallout 76 is actually playable!

WHAT THE HELL!?

Oh and the Coronavirus thing too...

Anyway, nobody's posted in months! Hope you're all doing okay!
I've been off work, from the earliest point. I'm on the high risk list, due to asthema and other issues.
I was in the process of being diagnosed with it before this disaster hit. I was adamant that I didn't have it. Turns out I do have some form of Asthema.

Yes, the egg on my face is resting rather nicely, thank you!

Not had a difficult tast of keeping myself busy. I'm always busy, afterall...

Please post, even if it's just an emoji or something, so I know you're all still kicking!

Oh and I also have a discord for the Fallout Gravel Pit, it's still going in its own way. The Elder Scrolls one is doing a lot better but I'm hoping to improve things a little. :)

I never played 76 so I doubt I'll get this version, either. Even if it is better.

Bethesda should just give the Fallout Universe back to Obsidian. (I.e. the guys formerly of Interplay's Black Isle Studios who made the first two Fallouts and got a license from Bethesda to make Fallout:  New Vegas).

Obsidian actually knows how to craft engaging worlds with interesting people.

I mean, they should but then Obsidian would upstage them and we can't have that.

Besides, people liked Fallout 76 more than Outer Worlds... right? R-Right?  :'(

Anyone going back to this dumpster fire for the 'Wastelanders' update?
It's going to add characters, plot, etc to the game... Which I kinda want to see. :>

Also, this literally made me laugh out loud, what the hell is Bethesda doing!?: https://youtu.be/PxFAqE1YYRY

Not surprised it's good.

Outer Worlds is Obisidian. Obsidian are an offshoot of Interplay (Black Isle Studios division). The people who founded it are the same ones who made Fallout 1, and while they left before Fallout 2 was finished, worked on the team that did FO2 for about 90% of the production (some of those on the team for FO2 that stayed on with Interplay through the release would later join Obsidian when Interplay folded).

They also were the studio that made Fallout:  New Vegas, having licensed the FO3 engine. And FO:  NV is considered the best of the modern Fallouts.

Obsidian really is one of the best gaming companies out there.

Oh, I know. it's a shame that Bethesda didn't let them make the game that they wanted, with Fallout New Vegas but I imagine that monstrous supe world being impossible for the engine to run in a stable way.

"Hey... Wanna be in my Gang?"

For anyone umming and erring over this game, I'd highly recommend it.

It's so amazingly written, particularly in its satirical anti corporate themes, it has some truly endearing characters and it has a setting that I've fallen in love with almost as quickly as I did Fallout's.

On top of that, it's a legitimately good RPG, full of innovations (such as the slow time mechanic, natural and fluent companion dialogue, a perk and stat system that is all useful and can shape you into whatever kind of character you want) and a combat system that feels a lot like Bethesda's system but perfected.

In fact, that's how I'd describe Outer Worlds as a whole, like a perfected Bethesda game. It has a similar feel, in a lot of aspects, to Fallout: New Vegas but it's much better optimized and just better made all around.

Love it!  :-*

It's the normal one, though they're identical, so I'm not sure how that works as it's supposedly the hood thing inside it that's moldy. Maybe it's a bad batch?

I own the one with the Power Armour edition, that's supposedly safe.

I've worn it now, so I guess I'm basically screwed.

It's a sad state of affairs when Trump is a better alternative than a no-deal Brexit.

I'd say the comparison is like dog shit and cat shit. 🤷🏻‍♂️

We already have a "special relationship"  :D

And If it makes you feel better, I think Boris Johnson is a pretty cool dude. Also, the banter on your news program(me)s is hilarious.

No man, Boris is the worst. He's a calculating, power hungry monster, who couldn't run a bath. The only thing he accomplished as foreign secretary was getting an innocent woman arrested and held prisoner in Iran. He just shrugged it off, like it's a joke.

The man is desperate to become Prime Minister, no matter who gets hurt. This country needs him, like a dog needs ringworms.

I'm not going to lie, we're in a bad way.
Can I live with you yanks? Please? :<

I'll be your friend!

On the bright side, they are handing out the replacement bags, I got mine at the price of my personal details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXezTpiGPYc

While the game is better, it's not good. It can't really ever be good, because the game is flawed at its core. They're adding NPCs and quests, so that might give it something for players to care about but somehow, I doubt that it'll work at this point.

I also have no interest in taking up another live service, the only ones that I can stomach are the Warner Bros fighting game ones (Injustice and Mortal Kombat) and the rest are just awful.

I'm currently saving to get a place with my girlfriend. I have more hours at work, more responsibility.

Not exactly been feeling great with it, I have been blaming the change in routine but I'd say there is more to it.
Spending a lot more time with the refuser kids, just sitting in silence as an ornament as they do their best to test my patience.

I feel bitter, all the time. It's not good, not for me or anyone. Head's like thorns, twisting and sinking into my brain.

It kind of reminds me of how things were, five years ago. I hope it passes soon.

Congrats on the promotion at work.

I would live by yourself for at least a year before you cohabitate, if you haven't yet. I never lived with a significant other, but I did live with my best friend and a platonic girl last year, and both were challenging. Living with someone you have a relationship with can be fun, but is harder than it sounds, and really stresses things. Chances are, she will notice every tiny mess you make, so you'd better keep the home completely spotless.

I don't mean to sound like a downer, but job issues don't just pass on their own, in my experience. You should try to figure out the root cause(s) of your frustration and change those. My partner works in child care, and its indeed tough.

Thanks, this was actually quite uplifting. :)
The job's gotten a bit better, since I've been given more meaningful work and I've gotten used to the hours.

As far as living with with my girlfriend goes, I think it would be preferable to living on my own. I have mild insolophobia, so I'm not sure how well living on my own would go. My girlfriend isn't that uptight, when it comes to keeping the house straight.

I hope that having my own space will make organization easier. I'll be able to organize better, if I have more control of my own space.

Probably just wishful thinking on my part. :>
