Unwashed Village / Discord?
« on: October 06, 2022, 12:50:10 AM »
I can't remember if this was asked before but would an Unwashed Village Discord be a good idea? I personally think it will. A good community on there can be a joy and it's a great little app for managing a community, you also get the instant feedback and notifications that a lot of forums lack.

The village is starting to look like Arroyo at the start of Fallout 2 these days and I don't think Bluecross is coming back with a G.E.C.K, I think he just told us that so we'd give him stuff to skip out of town with and spend on booze and hookers.

How we don't have a thread on this is beyond me.

Unwashed Village / I found the original Interplay Forums
« on: August 18, 2021, 05:38:42 PM »
Back in College, I got obsessed with looking up old Unwashed Village stuff and at some point I found the original Fallout Feedback Forum from Interplay, including some of Grim Reaper's post and the birth of the Unwashed Village.

Then I lost it for nigh on ten years and I was so pissed with myself for it.

When TK covered us, I brought up that I found it but lost it and the feeling came back. I had to find it again and I did.

I was poking around the Wayback machine and thought I'd have another stab at it, so glad I did. :D

Unwashed Village / Fallout Power Armour in Doctor Who?
« on: August 18, 2021, 09:21:23 AM »
A new trailer for an audio story dropped the other day and I couldn't help but notice how one of the characters on the front cover was wearing T-45 power armour. On closer inspection (with help from a friend who is smarter than me) we deduced that it's NCR Salvaged Power Armour from New Vegas.

No idea why this happened, I'm assuming its been stolen as I doubt anyone could keep their mouth shut about an official crossover or something for this long. Still, it's pretty awesome that two franchises that I like are coming together like this. :P

Unwashed Village / Revisiting Fallout 1 after... years.
« on: January 12, 2021, 12:21:30 AM »
I've played the other Fallouts a few times but I've not completed Fallout 1 in ten years. (I did it for a youtube let's play but the finale didn't record :( )
I wanted to revisit it a little for some research for a Van Buren RP I'm currently doing.
I've done Fallout 2 at least 3 times in the past ten years but 1... not so much. There's a lot of bits that I remember like the back of my hand and bits that I've only just noticed.

I can't believe it took me over ten years to find the wall mounted locker safes in Vault 15. Literally walked past them every other playthrough.  :o

Made sure not to give Ian anything automatic.

No, no ian! Put that staple gun down, put it dow-!

I somehow remember the Boneyard having nothing in it and now I'm finding all sorts kicking about. Like the Death District.

Found out that Ian is a BOSS with a sniper rifle, shame he insists on putting it away and punching things half the time. Like dude, I get that you're badass for punching deathclaws but c'mon man, I bought you a sniper and some bullets. Please use them!

I've only just found Decker and I have to say, hearing Keith David tell me that he's proud of me makes me all gooey inside... almost makes me forget that I murdered a bunch of people.

Loved Jeff Bennet as Loxley, the dude's so talented. I hadn't done either of these quests before, couldn't believe I'd overlooked them.

I actually forgot that they had real voice actors in these games, like named ones that I'd actually reckognize. I kind of like as well that they're talented people in their field instead of just 'oh, people like this guy, so put him in the game!'

I don't know why I found this game so hard. I'm already a force to be reckoned with and I'm only in metal armour, with a missile launcher. God knows what I'll be like when I get power armour again. I'm assuming I messed my stats up something fierce before.

Got a few more Boneyard quests to do, then I'm off to Necropolis! :D

So for those of you, who like 'so bad they're good' movies, the name James Nguyen may stick out to you. He's the creator of such films as Birdemic, Julie and Jack and the long lost Replica.

He has since come out of the woodworks with another utopian vision, which basically promises us human immortality.

https://immortaltherapeutics.com/?fbclid=IwAR0UMhfOfD_doGmMYQGqVo5oNerrH4C-ICw-Y9EFAjKyU9aq8Q1Jp6yjnhs

Is he going to make Julie and Jack's VR Ghost program a reality? Or Replica's cloning technology a retirement plan?

You'll have to forgive me for not putting much faith in it, regardless. If he can't make exploding CGI birds look realistic (from more than a distance!), I dunno if I trust him with my body or immortal soul.

Maybe I'm wrong though, could James Nguyen be the TRUE founder of the Institute?

Unwashed Village / The Times they are a changing
« on: May 25, 2020, 05:10:54 AM »
Jesus! We are currently living in the biggest global crisis since world war 2. The proverbial works have had a proverbial spanner thrown into them this time!

Fallout 76 is actually playable!

WHAT THE HELL!?

Oh and the Coronavirus thing too...

Anyway, nobody's posted in months! Hope you're all doing okay!
I've been off work, from the earliest point. I'm on the high risk list, due to asthema and other issues.
I was in the process of being diagnosed with it before this disaster hit. I was adamant that I didn't have it. Turns out I do have some form of Asthema.

Yes, the egg on my face is resting rather nicely, thank you!

Not had a difficult tast of keeping myself busy. I'm always busy, afterall...

Please post, even if it's just an emoji or something, so I know you're all still kicking!

Oh and I also have a discord for the Fallout Gravel Pit, it's still going in its own way. The Elder Scrolls one is doing a lot better but I'm hoping to improve things a little. :)

"Hey... Wanna be in my Gang?"

For anyone umming and erring over this game, I'd highly recommend it.

It's so amazingly written, particularly in its satirical anti corporate themes, it has some truly endearing characters and it has a setting that I've fallen in love with almost as quickly as I did Fallout's.

On top of that, it's a legitimately good RPG, full of innovations (such as the slow time mechanic, natural and fluent companion dialogue, a perk and stat system that is all useful and can shape you into whatever kind of character you want) and a combat system that feels a lot like Bethesda's system but perfected.

In fact, that's how I'd describe Outer Worlds as a whole, like a perfected Bethesda game. It has a similar feel, in a lot of aspects, to Fallout: New Vegas but it's much better optimized and just better made all around.

Love it!  :-*

Mine would be...
Theresa May: To be a vampire is a life commitment. It is not achieved by my words, it is something you earn by your own will and sincere meditation.
Little Boy: I only wanted an autiegwaph!

Unwashed Village / Fallout 76 Poem
« on: December 31, 2018, 04:31:02 AM »
I played Fallout 76 until it was detrimental to my health, so I stopped.
It's currently 3 AM and I need to kill some time and the Unwashed Village is sorely lacking in poetry right now, so I thought I'd flex my none existent skills and give it a crack.

Scrounging through the dirt and scrap, I seek parts for my gun.
Jealous of the Vault Dweller, he got all the fun.
I broke my trusty hammer on a Scorch's stupid face.
It simply vanished from my hands, without a single trace.

Giant bats scream and roar as they sour through the air.
What the fuck, there's three of them! That's just not bloody fair!
Sonic waves from three angles and a rad fart on my head.
Just... fucking kill me now, I'm much better off dead.

Why won't my shack fit!? It's still lit up red!
'I won't have to take it apart, will I?' my lip trembles, with dread.
Before I logged out, it fit, snuggly, beneath that pylon!
Well now I'll have to start again! My canvas bag was actually nylon!

So hungry... So thirsty... Must find food!
I wish I had some atom points, so that I could go and ask that dude.
It's been a whole three hours, since that potato snack.
Now I lie, a skeletal wreck, on the floor of my rundown shack.

I found some entertainment, dressing as a clown.
Standing in doors and windows, throughout the ruined town.
They see some weirdo staring, femininely dressed.
The number of visitors have, oddly enough, regressed.

Rest in peace, I tell myself as I head off to war.
The Scorched threat await me, yet I'm stuck in the floor!
I'm too weighed down with crap, to teleport away.
Grenades fall through the floor, somehow, so here I must stay.

Bollocks to this barren world, in which I am now part.
Screw these glitches, bugs and issues, that have plagued me from the start!
'The Scorched can have this cursed place' I declared, with a sigh.
Now could one of you come over here, so that I can finally die!?

So my quest ends here, abruptly, without a whimper or a bang.
Just an irritable sigh, a combination of dread and fear, like a flashback to Da Nang.
I leave with this warning, simple and sincere.
Avoid Appalachia, if you hold your sanity dear.

Unwashed Village / I'm disappointed...
« on: March 22, 2018, 12:27:34 AM »
It's been a few months and no Soul Calibur VI hype? What happened to you guys? You used to be cool! :<

I'm actually quite optimistic for it, despite how disappointed I was with V. Though I do admit, I appreciate it a lot more than I did, when it first came out. If the gameplay is as good as SC V but has the many features of SC III, then I'll be super happy! ^.^

I was kind of looking forward to seeing where the future would take us but I do miss the old roster dearly and don't ind returning to them. I was hoping that SC VI would give us Patrokalus' death, given that I hate him so much. Maybe I can kill Sophitia before the events of Soul Calibur I and prevent the little brat from ever existing!  >:D

Hoping that Voldo is good for our resident Voldo player.

(Also, holy sheet! It's just occurred to me that the last Soul Calibur game came out, the first time I started actively posting on this board!)

Unwashed Village / Vault Tec experiment ideas
« on: November 10, 2017, 09:51:32 AM »
Hmmm, here's a fun one.
Has anyone ever had an idea for a Vault experiment?

I always wanted a Vault that had a lot of robots that were designed to be as rude and unhelpful as possible.
