So I decided to remedy that.

I don't mean 'mildly stupid' like mis-aligning the buttons on your shirt, or 'annoyingly stupid' like locking your keys in your car.  No, I mean blindingly stupid.

Did I mention that I take great pride in how sharp I keep my knives?  In case you missed the memo, I do.

This nice doggie toy I just bought for Sophie had a rather tough plastic tie-wrap holding on one of the tags.  So did I grab some scissors or wire cutters?  Of course not; why use those specifically designed items for the task at hand when I have a nice sharp knife which is handy for all kinds of fun things.

I'm struggling a bit with cutting the tie wrap (it was unusually thick) with my frighteningly sharp knife and I'm thinking this "This is really dumb.  If you're not careful, you'll----".

Oops.

"I need a band-aid!!"

No.  A band-aid would not suffice.

"I need a butterfly stitch!"

And, in the words of the urgent care clinic doctor "You were going to butterfly that??"

Anyway, I was  surprised you could get nine stitches all in the last joint of your index finger.

It was a good thing the knife was pointed away from me or I would have given myself an appendectomy.

I'd supply pictures but this is a family forum.  Sort of.

And on a more graphical note, I actually felt the knife hit the bone during my self-inflicted surgery.  And I managed to nick my middle finger at the same time but that didn't even require a band-aid.

OK, stupid quota filled for the year.

At least it was a "useful item" you were opening? I did a similar thing with a bottle of soda and didnt go to the hospital.

But glad to hear it's been appropriately stitched up and healing

I'm glad you were smart enough to cut away from you, or it might have been much worse.

Glad to hear its healing though.

A couple of rules that have kept me alive (so far):

1.  ALWAYS cut away from you.

2.  NEVER point a gun (any gun: 'real' gun, toy gun, whatever gun) at anyone ever even in jest.
2a corollary: NEVER allow anyone to point a gun (any gun) at you.

3.  Avoid funny smelling or funny looking food.

4.  Don't drunk when droving.

Lindburger is a restaurant. Limburger is a cheese.
All right, I’ve been thinking, when life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man whose gonna burn your house down – with the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!

I used to spend about a week cutting my fingers whenever I bought a new leatherman not on purpose just through stupidity and a reckless disregard for clean surfaces.

Does your fingertip tingle?

'cause that's what mine does where there's nerve damage.
I fall and I leap and
I'm freaking out
Nowhere near my place and I
Know that they've seen me now

No, not really.  I cut through the top of my finger, and I think there are fewer nerves there.

But the end joint of the finger has a nice purplish hue still.  Very pretty.

No stitches so far but more then a few minor bloody scratches.
Weasel with a full tang stainless steel scimitar may be incredibly stupid yet :D
You May Soar with the eagles but Weasels do not get sucked into ramjets! Gotta watch out for the hovercrafts though...

Putting some thought into it, I realized I have cut myself more often then not while either working on cars, or on guns, or other sundry mechanical items rather then with knives, or other traditionaly sharp objects and that seems rather silly in retrospect.  I suppose I'm lucky at finding edges where their shouldn't be edges. Lol that or I'm just far more careful with edged items after almost removing my thumb back in the day

There was once a time where most of the computer repairs that came out of PC world in Aberdeen were genetically traceable to me, the cases were so sharp I ended up having multiple cuts and I'm sure there were spots I didn't see.

Oddly the best cases were patriot ones, thick steel, rounded edges and just nice to work on, that attention to detail was crucial in a product that spent more time on my repair bench than the owners desk.

You know, every computer case I've ever dealt with is full of sharp edges aswell! Always wondered if I was just "lucky" on that front

Its like they sharpen them!
