Well, my buddy says they apprently need a dependable hunter pretty bad, so I ended up rolling a draenei hunter named Hrothnar.  I'll probably roll a gnome rogue as an alt though.

I have a really nice-ass wireless mouse with like 8 buttons on it (literally, 8 buttons) and I've never really used any of 'em.  I'm really excited about mapping them all to different abilities and stuff.  I am a nerd.

The thread has moved beyond this point by now but I'll say it anyway:

Chris Metzen was actually asked at one of the Blizzcons why dwarves could be rogues, as it didn't make any sense for them to be stealthy. He explained that the talent trees are meant to encompass archetypes within the class structure, and additionally each talent build could be something else. Therefore dwarven rogues were developed to be along the lines of swashbucklers and adventurers who mastered the arts of combat in a way that didn't involve them shrugging off damage. But if people chose they could go stealthy. He gave the example of an undead priest being able to use holy magic. Here's what he said.

"It's one of those situations where lore had to take a back seat to gameplay, and Blizzard has always been about a balanced, working game. From a roleplaying standpoint though, we could assume that an undead holy priest is healing using the power of undeath, and a dwarven rogue is harder to see since he's so short. And if he's a darkiron he probably kicked dirt in your eye before the fight."

Also fitting the theme of earlier in this thread, someone asked him why gnomes are persecuted so much in the game. He said "I don't know why people hate them so much. I love them. They are very aerodynamic when you punt them."

Pwned.

it without regard for its personal cost to you."

Egads more alliance players, you silly people! :P

Muradin is a nice (if not utterly dead) server to play on, I've made it my home. Alliance to Horde ratio is the worst in all of wow atm though, 4.9:1 =\

I like gnomes fine.

In fact a gnome warrior may be the cutest thing ever.

I just want to be able to make a draenei rogue. :(

I just want to be able to make a draenei rogue. :(

My friend plays a Troll Rogue Engineer.
Sometimes she gets the pattern buffer debuff, which randomly turns her into other races.
I saw her go stealthy as both a male Tauren and a female draenei.

I have to say, with the amazing bend-over action the female draenei has, I can gaurantee they didn't make it player choosable since it would stop half the server in its tracks.
Yeesh. They already sway so much... the bending would just kill brain cells. >.>

Well, pluggin' away, got my hunter up to 20 (haven't started the rogue yet).  Draenei starting area is pretty cool- definitely feels like the quests are more numerous and more detailed than any other starting area I've seen, but it's been a looooooong-ass time so who knows.  A generous donation of 50g from a buddy of mine means I don't have to worry about money for a while (though I haven't really needed it yet anyway- probably won't until I get tired of levelling jewelcrafting the honest way and just rape the AH for mats).  Jewelcrafting seems pretty cool.

Were hunters always this badass or are elites just really weak at low levels?  I can solo two elites of my own level- not easily, but I can do it.  I had a hunter up to 29 back in the day and of course I was pimp, but I dunno if I could have taken on two elites at once.

Oh, and what is my pet, you ask?  You didn't ask?  Well, I'm going to tell you anyway.

It's a crab named Citizen Snips.

The curve for elites is exponential.
At lower levels, they hit harder and have more hp than regular mobs, but not by much.
My hunter at 35 killed a 38 elite crocolisk in Stranglethorn Vale by hisself. His pet got dead and he was on 400 hp by the end of it, but it was dead. That was the last time I soloed anything elite my level or higher and living, however. Once I hit 40, the Elites looked at me and said "wtfpwned!"
Now, I can handle elites alone that are -2 my level :(
Even at 70, the type of critter I'm up against really dictates whether I can handle it or not.
Theres an elite basilisk in Terrokar. I killed it at 69 with no pet death.
Theres an elite spider in Terrokar. It pwns my face still at 70 if I'm not aware of it. :T

Then again, I am survival. Crits for the win.

crabs are cute.  I had one, I called him butter.

hmmm - melted butter and crab.

yeah, the hunter is pretty nice to solo with, but for sure it's mainly cause low level elites are not really up to par with 'elite'

if you've never played a rogue - you will find solo with that guy is just as easy at that level.

mannnnnn...talking about all this again is making me want to play. No - will not play again. Will not play again. =D

Update!

I hit 70 on Saturday, Nov. 10th.  Let's see, I rolled him on Sept. 17th, so what is that- about seven and a half weeks to get from 1 to 70?  Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.  Got myself keyed for kara yesterday, but my gear is still kinda lamesauce - I think need to run Botanica, Steam Vaults and Shattered Halls until I pick up a couple beast lord pieces before I can really run kara.

God, I love my guild though.  They absolutely obliterated black morass.  We only used 4 tokens and Medivh didn't get hit once.
