Some support for the troops
« on: June 27, 2008, 06:49:36 PM »

Just wanted to get the word out that there's a thing going on to send care packages to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Yes it is being headed by a very right-leaning organization. I'm sure that will cause some or even all of you not to give through them but I just wanted to post the link in case it didn't matter to a few of you. Or perhaps you can even find another organization more to your liking that is doing something similar.

I just read about this and it made me think of Carib out there and how just a few things from back home might make life a little easier for him.

For $39.99 you can help two of our troops (they have a cheaper single package fyi)

Personal Comfort Pack - Help 2 U.S. Troops

Send two of the heroic men and women of our U.S. military these popularly requested comfort items to help make their daily lives a little bit easier.

"Personal Comfort Pack" - Care Package Includes:

Containers of SPF30 Ultra-Sweatproof Sport Sunblock
       Delon Intense XL Deodorant Sticks
       ChapX Lip Balms
Packs of 100ct. Baby Wipes with Aloe and Lanolin
       Insect Repelling BugButtons
Maxi Mini Fan with belt clip and break-away neck rope

Your $39.99 donation for this care package includes shipping to two U.S. servicemen or women stationed in Afghanistan and Iraq, plus your own personalized message included with the care package!

Funny... I was thinking about making a post similar to this but more UV related. We should send 'stuff' to our UV villagers stationed overseas.
Will I get Night Owl points for quitting but not as much for getting fired?
Will I still be a member of the Owl's Pals? I'd hate to turn in my card. It's got a real owl feather under the lamination and everything.

Forcibly occupying another country shouldn't be comfortable...

Why not take your concerns to the debate board and if anyone wants to discuss it with you they can do it there?  That's not what this thread is about. If it was I would have put it in the debate forums to begin with.

Let me see if I can get Rama/Carib's address again. The one I have is about seven months old and I think it's at his training base.

I heard that troops desire tuna. eg. Packaged tuna and such. Anyone else heard about that?

Anyway... I think we should do this. Is Rama/Carib the only person in the military right now? At least stationed?

I think we should find a teensy-tiny toaster to include.  Really! :D

When he gave us that didn't he say that if we sent it there they'd send it to wherever he was? I thought he did.

I'm not particularly concerned what you think I should be posting in this thread.  On an internet message board, what the thread is "about" is the sum total of contributions to the thread.  You have no hegemony over its content.

Not sure. I'd rather have the direct address to minimize the chance of something happening or delays. I sent a pm but I haven't gotten a response yet.
