Title: We have a Bastard Bar but we really need a Bastard Cafe
Post by: BlueCross on March 04, 2015, 07:44:18 PM
Oh wait, I think I found one!  Or rather, my daughter did.  She and her husband went on a trip to Denmark, Estonia and Finland recently.  One of her finds:

I 'think' this is in Denmark but not 100% sure.

She found this in Finland:

Bonus points for identifying this (answer below).

And a cool pic of her in a street (in Estonia, I think):

The second picture above is thought to be of the world's oldest diving suit.

I will but they are a slight pain to create; she 'published' a photo album and I have to extract each image one at a time. :(

Can confirm, Bastard Café is in Copenhagen (Denmark for all you Americans whom we all know are terrible at geography outside of their own state ;) )

Being English, I find that to be a hilarious problem amongst American tourists.

Whenever I'm in Europe and I mention that I'm from Manchester, they often reply with: "Manchester? Is that in London?"

I usually reply with 'yes,' I don't think that they can be saved. XD

We're like that about our own country as Chucara implied.

Most East Coasters view the nation as having three regions:  the east coast, the west coast, and "Here Be Dragons".

Of course, in the middle of "Here Be Dragons" is the civilization known as Chicago. It's like an oasis in the desert.

So it was Las Vegas before Las Vegas? I always did get that vibe, oddly enough...

Heh, 'here be dragons' reminds me of this: http://i.huffpost.com/gen/1581527/thumbs/o-UKIP-WORLD-MAP-900.jpg?6

Americans suck at geography because we have to remember 50 states and how they connect. Its hard enough to remember those, even moreso all those little countries in Europe halfway across the world, most of which are smaller than my state. And we're motived by money; If you're not from "near" a big rich well known city then a lot of Americans won't care where you're from.

Even here in flyover country we have our prejudices. My girlfriend is from Iowa, and today I drove through southern Illinois and those places are about the flattest most boring places I could possibly imagine. At least here we have Dragons.
