Title: Khans Archelogical Expedition
Post by: Gargantua on September 19, 2016, 09:37:07 PM
Gentlemen,

My name is Gargantua - President of The Khans- which were founded for Fallout Tactics in the year September 1st 2000 prior to the game release.

Neither I nor The Khans ever had too much to do with the unwashed villagers to my knowledge, but there was a time those many years ago that we did share a home as Neighbors at Vault 13.net (defunct since 2002).

I was but a mere 16 year old pup then, and I joined the Khans on the first day of Demo release Jan*28*2001 as a hoodlum.

We are alive and well at Khanscentral.com and are proud of our lineage.  Playing Fonline at the moment.  But our history is something seek to understand more of.

Mainly -the forum period- between Sep 1 2000 and Feb 1 2001.  There was a generation of Khans that existed then and founded the organization, but none of these members have been seen for a decade and a half.

To my understanding The Khans made the notable impression of pissing everyone off, and causing trouble at "The Hub" aka Interplays forums.  I believe and hope some of you may have been witness to this, and I hope someone may be able to shed some light if any on anything they remember.

-Does anyone here Remember The Khans or any of their members?
-Does anyone remember anything that ever happend at The Hub during this period?
-Does anyone remember what happend at Vault 13 in the early days of FOT? or Late 2000?

There were some members of both groups that went back and forth between the boards back then, I was well in to my 'alcohol years' so my recollections are fuzzy but look here https://web.archive.org/web/20010411064104/http://www.vault13.net/board/

I vaguely remember the group in general but never had any real interaction with them outside of the cross-posters. I don't remember who the cross-posters were.

Radioactive Rob who was one of the Vault 13 admins and a member of the UV might remember more. He may be around here somewhere. He stopped by a while ago.

Didn't hang out at the I-Play boards.

Nope. Never really left he UV section of Vault 13.

You might want to ask around at No Mutants Allowed (http://www.nma-fallout.com/). Some of them were definitely cross posters in the various Fallout/Interplay related communities.

For example, Brother None (NMA, UV, and The Order) who was also known as Kharn at the AOF is still an admin at NMA. He did make a cameo in Wasteland 2 as a dead body along with the rest of The Order. (they were all dead in game). I don't know how much help he'll be since he pretty much left the UV before our Vault 13 days, but he's been regularly active in the FO community in general, so he might be able to help.

(On a side note, he works for inXile now which was founded by Brian Fargo, the CEO of interplay when FO1 and FO2 were made.)

Thanks for responses guys, I did follow up at NMA and dropped a hello in the Order forums.

We'll see what comes of it :)

I hope the years are treating you well?  and as long lost nieghbours - I am curious if there is anything we can do to assist the Unwashed Villagers with activity?

Ancient fallout organizations like ours need to stick together.

To slightly misquote, I think, Lara; we're sensitive fucking flowers, lapsed poets and lazy storytellers bring us a story a week and try not to improve the bastard bar with devastating fights and we'll treat you to our very best in indifference and apathy.

Seriously though, put on the cow suits gather up some sticks and tangerines and poke and pelt yourselves to your hearts content because we are too lazy to bother and too few to make a good hazing posse.

I do think if we got enough people to pop in at once saying 'I remember you, do you remember me?' we'd build enough mass to hold some of them here.

Any chance that any are interested in playing the multiplayer falllout games? Like Fonline? (Fallout 1 and 2 converted into MMO) or even tactics for that matter?

Else - yeah I could drive some small amount of traffic here, maybe send a Khan patrol to spam up a shit storm to give your moderators something to do and people to ban hahaha!

Of course - you guys are also welcome to visit www.khanscentral.com and register / post on our forums.  We definitely need to stay in touch.

I wasn't aware there were any online fallout games, to be fair I've not really looked at the community since ianout was a new thing. I did pick up tactics from GOG, it was a fair bit better than I remember it being.

Come to Fonline.

Your world is about to change.

It is free, works on most any machine, and is one of the most brutal MMORPG's I have ever experienced.  There is no quarter.  The Micro community is as toxic as it gets, and so much as a wrong look will get you killed in the wasteland.

http://www.fonline-reloaded.net/

It wipes every now and then - and there is a major wipe coming in the next months. So it's a good time to just pick it up and check it out.  You will really enjoy yourself if you liked the old Fallouts.

And of course - I invite you to join the best faction in the Game.  The Khans.  Hope your sense of humor hasn't run out, or a distates for morality! :)

Uh...

yeh...

I kinda remember.

But anymore I'm not even sure some of memories aren't just figments or wishful thinking about the past.  Pretty bad when you have a memory and you are not sure if the event occurred or you just dreamt it or hallucinated about it.

Age.  Age never changes...

Oh wait, I may have got that quote wrong.
