Tabula Rasa: Recruit a Rookie
« on: November 18, 2007, 03:25:11 PM »
Myself, Turjan and I believe Celest are ground pounding in the war in Tabula Rasa - from beta, to pre-order to live, we're just over 2 weeks into the game now and they've started their refer a friend program for folks to try the game out. You only get 3 days play, but it's free with no obligations.

The game still has stuff that's being worked on, most notable being the PAU's, but it's been recently patched to v1.1.1.3 and that patch has all but eradicated the performance problems the game had, so it's running somewhat smoother than it did in beta.

There are a few limits to the free codes however - a subscriber can only send 1 every 30 days and they won't get another refer token until the 30 days has passed or the friend upgrades their account. I doubt any of us are interested in the 30 days we get free if someone takes up a full account, but it is a first come first served basis as we have other folks the offer is open to (such as our old SWG guild) so if you're interested in trying it out for a few days, just give one of us a shout.

And below, the TR version of Mr. P:

Though the offer is much appreciated, everything I've ehard about it much discourages me from even bothering to try it out, msot notably how PvP was only added as an afterthough; as it wasn't even itnended to be implemented in the first place  :beadyeyes2:

Solwyn: Sorry to anyone here with a business degree, but I don't trust or like any of you.

Hehe that was LOTRO's deal with PvP too and now PvP has completely taken over the development of the game. That's why I left actually. They claimed they would never change the PvE side for PvP but the very clearly did that for their Book 11 patch.

IMO a MMO needs to be either completely PvP or completely PvE. There isn't a middle ground that has worked as far as I'm concerned.

Oh and thanks for the offer Petrarch but after LOTRO I think my MMO subscription days are over.

...Also, it looks much better on your PC. /envy

I'd try it out if my comp wouldn't probably sputter and die trying to run it, and not too sure how appealing it looks to me

The guardian. Currently in the box due to the way the staff melee damage got lowered, so he's waiting for that to get sorted. In the meantime, I've been leveling a spy.

lul. Motor Assist.

i'm in full Graviton now :P

also i wish i had knew how cloning worked before... wasted a clone credit because i was already tier 3 when i decided to use it. i guess common sense should have dictated that your clone will be the same class, but common sense would also dictate that it would look exactly the same as the original (yeah, i can make my clone a chick, with different skin tone and build, but not a different class?).

guess if i want to go to the specialist classes i'll have to do it the old fashioned way :P

It's dead Jim.

http://www.rgtr.com/news/latest_news/message_from_the_tabula_rasa_t.html

To the Tabula Rasa Community,

Last November we launched what we hoped would be a ground breaking sci-fi MMO. In many ways, we think we've achieved that goal. Tabula Rasa has some unique features that make it fun and very different from every other MMO out there. Unfortunately, the fact is that the game hasn't performed as expected. The development team has worked hard to improve the game since launch, but the game never achieved the player population we hoped for.

So it is with regret that we must announce that Tabula Rasa will end live service on February 28, 2009.

Before we end the service, we'll make Tabula Rasa servers free to play starting on January 10, 2009.

We can assure you that through the next couple of months we'll be doing some really fun things in Tabula Rasa, and we plan to make staying on a little longer worth your while. For more details about what we are doing for Tabula Rasa players, please click here.

Stay tuned for more information. We thank you for your loyal support of the game and encourage you to take us up on the benefits we're offering Tabula Rasa players.

The Tabula Rasa Team

The writing was on the wall for a while now - Richard Garriott left NCsoft a few weeks ago, so looks like that's all from them for now.
