I remember the first time I saw a rerun of Gumby, because prior to that, my knowledge of Gumby was from the little bendy Gumby and Pokey toys I had. I never realized that Gumby had this whole cadre of clay creatures that followed him around and also that no one ever
rode Pokey.
They also had an elephant or baby mastodon in there at some point. I think they pulled him out of a book. That was one of Gumby's eerie powers. He could go into books like they were a holodeck and bring stuff out of them into the real world.
I have to wonder about his origins. He's a little clay man with magic powers. Was he some medieval wizard's failed homunculus or something?
Anyway, looks like he's fallen on some hard times since his show got canceled.
