...6'1" beats 5'3"...

What happened to 5'13''?

Yeah, you really do have a very meek, mild-mannered voice to go with the Amazon physique (perhaps some inklings of She-Hulk?).  I remember when I was in Kauai and I got a call on the hotel phone from you, having never heard your voice before, and spent about 45 seconds going "Who is this person? How do they know my name? Who even knows I'm here?!"

Ah yes... I forgot about the 5'13" this time...

Sorry about freaking you out... I suppose ending the call with "Seven Daysssssss" was a bit rude of me...

From what I know... you were in Kauai and didn't know I lived there. Was that correct?
Will I get Night Owl points for quitting but not as much for getting fired?
Will I still be a member of the Owl's Pals? I'd hate to turn in my card. It's got a real owl feather under the lamination and everything.

Naw, I knew you lived on the island, but when you called I didn't recognize the voice and couldn't piece it all together until you mentioned kayaking.  Either way, good times, and even though that trip was almost six years ago, some of the enduring memories are things that happened at the tour office.

Making Introductions:
Me: "Grandma, this is Doombot from the Unwashed Village, or Jen, right?"

Getting approval from the boss for discounts:
Jen: "Hang on, I have to get the okay from the boss...he's out back in the hammock."

And of course, the empty lot next door where they filmed the restaurant scene in Jurassic Park. I saw and did many things on that trip, but knowing I stood where Spielberg might have stood and where Wayne Knight ate was probably one of the coolest moments of the trip.

Well, that and the shampoo filled flowers and the shy plants.  Those were awesome!

I forget. Did I direct you to a roadside hamburger stand for a Taro Burger?

I was just reviewing my old posts from when I was there, and it's funny you should ask.  I don't know if I ate a taro burger, but it was a good burger.  Except, you know, not a Goodburger.
I loves the archived forums.

First, let me just say one thing about this place. Sexy Waitresses Ahoy! I went to one restaurant last night where I had not one, but two pretty ladies whose only job was too come to our table in unison and fill up my Coke! I'm coming back here alone next summer, it's too embarassing to flirt with girls when you have your Grandma sitting there at the table. (She's great thoguh, she payed for this whole trip and she's paying my way through college, so let's hear it for her people!) Seriously, the island girls here easily win my vote for being some of the planet's most gorgeous women. Now that that's said and done. Today I toured the wet part of the island, as oppesed to the other half which is desert. I ate at a little drive-in called Ono-Burger, which is SO GOOD it's known all over the island as having the best burgers, even with two Burger Kings also being here. To give you an idea of how small this place is, imagine a toll booth full of burgers and that's Ono Burger. And apparently it's so good that celebrities have eaten there. Everyone from Gene Hackman, and Steven Tyler to that guy who played the bad guy in the Mortal Kombat movie has eaten there and left autographed pictures. This is largely due to the fact that they've filmed many movies here at least in part including scenes from Mortal Kombat, Jurassic Park, and the opening scene from Fantasy Island where Tattoo yells "The Plane Boss, the plane!" I also heard about this beach whose name I can't pronounce that is inhabited entirely by "hippies". I know that's an archaic term, but that's about the most accurate one I can come up with. Rumor has it that the place is a self-ran community where they live off the land, at least that's what one of the pretty island girls told me at the orientation today. So, in conclusion lest me stress the key points of my day. Ono-Burger, Pretty Island Girls, Hippie Drug Beach. Having a great time, hopefully I'll have some pictures to post when I return to dreary dark and rainy Washington. sad.gif One last thing, I have to once more stress how friendly the people here are. They treat you like they've known you forever. Even the bartenders are nicer than you'd expect. In Washington, minors aren't usually allowed in bars even if they aren't drinking. When I was at the restaurnat across from the condo getting something called Opakapake, I was warmly welcomed and given all the virgin drinks I could hold. I LOVE THIS PLACE! Any questions? Feel free to ask.

Thanks. I forgotten the name of the place. =)

This may or may not be a good thing to tell you but I remember you did want to live in Kauai.

It's very possible for you to go there, work a summer and get lodgings with similar minded people. Businesses on Kauai absolutely love JOPs as new hires. It you have a skill that can work in the tourism industries then you're golden. Boat work, kayaking, etc.

Oh, JOP means:
Just
Of
Plane

The assumption is since you aren't a long time resident of Kauai you're free of some of the worse habits like meth addiction or just 'island laziness'.

But if you still want to do it, I'll help you with advice if you like. =)

And one of them gave us our namesake, too!
