So.. seems that good ole Rush might be in a bit of a pickle
« on: March 22, 2008, 08:45:11 PM »
Concerning his pushing for Republicans to switch parties in Ohio and Texas to vote for Hillary.

The issue is that doing so in Ohio is a 5th level felony since people have to sign an affidavid to switch parties.  It's just an issue now on if they were persue charges against those who did it and those who masterminded the move... of which Rush would likely get hit with a conspiracy to commit voter fruad charges.

Reading the way the law is written is sounds as though you have to be questioned on it right there when you vote. I doubt anything will come of it. I also doubt Rush had as much of an impact as he and the far left both seem to think. I know a ton of conservatives crossed party lines once McCain was a lock but a lot of them voted for Obama because they didn't even want Hillary to have a shot at being President. So it was probably more of an even split than people are saying.

Oh and welcome back  :)

Edit to add - I'm thinking of picking one of these up. What you think?  ;)

At the same time it's still conspiracy if you knowingly encourage people to do something that is illegal. It's just a matter on if the county AG will persue the matter or not.

Actually, that was supposed to be a compliment.  Seriously.

Here's KOS on Jan 10 calling Democrats to do the same thing in Michigan. I don't know if it's supposedly against Michigan law or not but it just illustrates the hypocrisy.

And that's why I hate party politics. Personally, I think all primaries should be open. If the people want to fuck themselves over due to partisan idiocy, well, they get the government they deserve.

Segregated primaries violate the idea of a democracy.
All right, I’ve been thinking, when life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man whose gonna burn your house down – with the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!

I agree for the reason that if you couldn't there are a lot of areas in the country where your vote won't count if you are in the minority. At least in those areas someone that can cross party lines has a choice even if it's not the one they'd like to have.

Would be nice.

Anyways this isnt about the fact that he's conservative or supports the GOP.. simply that he's encouraging the people to break the law. If it is against the michagan law to do that as well then the people in the DNC should face the same ordeal.

"Limbaugh safe from voter-fraud charges
Radio host encouraged fans to vote Democratic
Friday,  March 28, 2008 2:59 AM
By Mark Niquette

Radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh has been telling his audience for days now that he could be indicted for encouraging Ohio Republicans to take a Democratic ballot in the March 4 primary in what he calls "Operation Chaos."

Could that actually happen?

Not likely, Ohio officials say."

"We have no intention of prosecuting Rush Limbaugh because lying through your teeth and being stupid isn't a crime," said Leo Jennings, a spokesman for Democratic Attorney General Marc Dann.

I think "being a douchebag" isn't either, or 90% of radio personalities wouldn't be on the air any more.

Eh.. lying isnt a crime(unless you are under oath) but intentionally trying to get people to break the law is.

Just like now.. Rush is stepping deeper into things by encouraging people to riot outside of the DNC meeting in Denver.

First amendment might protect the right of someone to be an idiot.. but it doesnt protect the right of someone to tell other people that they should break the laws which is what this issue is about. He can be as big of a douchebag as he wants to be.. so long as he doesnt start advocating to people that they should ignore the laws in their state and of this country.. which is exactly what he's doing.
