science behind fairy tales

i am a HUGE fan of fairy tales. i'm mostly jsut excited for the carpet idea, and the fact that not everythign is rooted in imagination. i was kinda hoping that mermaids were really real, but i guess i'll have to go to tahiti for that one. but that's soemthing i can work out later.
