Explain your avatar!
« on: November 17, 2012, 06:46:43 AM »
-Explain the origin and/or meaning of your online name (or persona)

In 8th grade, around 2004 a couple of buddies and i wanted to start a Starcraft (computer game) clan called the Mod clan. One of them was Battlemod, Biomod and me, Killmod.

We never did end up playing together. But the name stuck, and I ended up using it for my "gamer" name. I shortened it to KMD on worksafe boards.

----

"Killmod was a machine designed after capturing an early radiated human or "mutant".
The team was a small group of former United Stated Military scientists who survived the nuclear fallout, working for the Brotherhood of Steel, after capturing an early radiated human or "mutant".

A hybrid machine and human, a "cyborg", designed for defense of a small village or town. Equipped with an adrenlaine activated dual sub machine arm, optic lense and metallic exoskeleton. One of only 6 created before the scientists were killed by raiders while traveling.

After surviving in the desert for 5 years after his creators death, he met the Church of the Children of Atom, and join the cult to try and retain his humanity. He is afterall, still human in the place it counts most.

And, heres something I made tonight in MSpaint.

Also, where have the wenches been  :'(? tis a lonely night at the bastard bar without the wenches

My name and profile picture are based on this one card

The card is a tarot card, which is like a fortune telling card each of the explaining aspect of one's future. The Hanged Man's meaning was letting go, accepting and well "hanging around." However, interestingly enough, reversed (or reversing) it can mean sacrifice. I felt these were appropriate traits for a name at the time, since I'm often on neutral ground when it comes to most things, but should circumstances flip upside down I can be known to put my best interests aside (don't get used to it though  ::) )

-- --
Anywho when it came to writing a character The Hanged Man was a grave robber in the late 19th to early 20th century, whilst smuggling drugs over the Mexican boarder he was found and shot dead. In death he met a man naming himself to be Mephistopheles, Mephistopheles showed some interest in his wicked ways and felt that he could use The Hanged Man as some sort of weapon, sadly The Hanged Man proved too unpredictable and upon resurrecting The Hanged Man did not follow Mephistopheles' orders.

However, his resurrection didn't go without a hitch since his body was completely destroyed he must now inhabit other corpses, examples of these are an old gun slinger, a dead gang member and a recently executed convict. The Hanged Man doesn't feel pain and can only be killed via head shot, however, his body is dead and cannot heal. If he gets a cut, it stays there, if he breaks the bones in a limb then he has to cut the limb off etc. Should his current body die it takes several years for him to get a new body to inhabit and the body is completely random therefore it could be on the other side of the world since he has no control over who's body he takes.

Here's an image I made on SFM  :)

Edit: the lighting on that picture is pretty crappy, that's because SFM can't work with most Gmod Maps, also that building on the horizon is Shady Sands :)

The sun beyond the mountain glows
The yellow river seaward flows
You can enjoy a grander sight
By climbing to a greater height

I have run out of places to climb. I will abandon this body and take to the air. We will leave twin vapor trails in the air, white lines etched into these rocks. I am the aerial. In my passing, I will send news to each and every star.

I picked up the nickname in school, when I leave my hair to do it's thing it grows into an afro-quiff type thing, a little like Mark Lamarr so the phrase 'nifty fifties throwback' was attached to me which evolved into Throwback Kid or TK.

My unwashed backstory was this:

I'm a result of biological tinkering that wrote the entirety of human knowledge into my DNA, this knowledge isn't accessible to me it's just there.  I escaped from the lab as I was reaching the age where the data would be accessible so I then stumbled upon a research facility that was testing new types of armour, one of which was a variable density fluidic armour with embedded AI.  When one of the research team found out that the bombs were dropping he downloaded his conciousness into it, when I entered the lab the armour saw it as a chance to become mobile and attached itself to me.  I'm on the run from the Enclave as they were the ones who were performing the experiment I am also searching for my counterpart who has the genetic key to unlock the knowledge contained in my DNA.

In effect it's very similar to a 2000AD character which started a good time later, always kicked myself for not publising the idea as it predated the publishing of the character although I'm pretty sure the character was in the works for a long time before that.

A long while ago when I was shackled to using AOL while the Dino-modems ruled the Earth, I had to pick a screen name. I had heard something from MtG and just decided to go with it. It's actually a name I no longer use outside of this place, but my old email and tag here are old enough to have it. Sandruu was a minotaur from the game's lore, didn't care about that just thought the name was fine.

My current avatar is from an anime called Rurouni Kenshin. I use this picture because I enjoy it's more realistic take on the anime character (I wasn't BIG into anime, just liked that one show,) and because I've spent many years studying Kenjutsu, Iaido, and many other forms of martial arts.

I used to be known by what Id term as a rather juvenile "Darkness Flame" (I was younger, and rather silly  )

My current name here is just a latin word Id used for a character that Id made when playing in an Iron Kingdoms campaign setting back when D&D 3.5 was still going as a current product:

Desolo : to leave desolate, abandoned, to forsake.

Ironically I didnt fully understand what the word meant when I named the character that, but in the end it actually ended up working rather well....
He was of all things a Druid Sniper....He was Also Neutral Good in a party full of Chaotic Neutrals, Chaotic Evils and Neutral Evils. Druids were not nice people in the setting either....
In essence He took everything he was supposed to be, what he was expected to be, and chose to leave it all behind.

The rest of the party eventually realized he was not to be fucked with, Mainly because one doesnt want to piss off the man with ability to incinerate an opposing ship with a wave of his hand, and what was basically an anti-tank rifle that he could realiably hit with at more then a mile, using a pool of water as a scrying focus as a spotter.
He was a crazy, crazy bastard. (in the Iron Kingdoms setting one could do some strange things, and I do miss it...)

As for my Avatar? Its a piece of art from one of my more recent favorite games (of the last decade, lol) , STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl. The picture makes me think of a quintessential wastland wanderer. Which I identify with in my own way....Its still just a  Tad juvenile  ;D

I wasnt here in the time when they came up with backstory, So I dont really have any good story stuff to add in that regard :)
Back from the Wastes after far, far to long....

To those who remember such things, Was once Known as "Darkness Flame" (A looooong time ago)

My board name is a reference to Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. In particular, chapter 3.

And the title under the name is a reference to "Goblins" the online comic.
All right, I’ve been thinking, when life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man whose gonna burn your house down – with the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!

I ended up with Tink b/c I loved the movie Hook with Julia Roberts so much, I'm small, and I have a knack of getting into mischief:)

My avatar, I got from Hatchetman and it has seldom changed. I still have my Christmas av that I got from Sandru years ago.

Sadly, I am only the coffee wench. Which comes in handy after a rough night at the Bastard Bar.:)
No matter how much you push the envelope, it will still be stationary.
