Way to go Colorado
« on: November 07, 2012, 08:00:49 PM »
Amendment 64 in Colorado, allowing the recreational private use and sale of Marijuana for those over age 21, passed yesterday.

http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_21941918/nation-watches-colorados-marijuana-legalization-vote

"Amendment 64 led late Tuesday night with 53.3 percent voting yes and 46.7 percent voting no"

"The amendment will allow those 21 and older to purchase up to one ounce of the drug at specially regulated retail stores. Possession would be legal but not public use.

Adults could grow up to six marijuana plants in their homes. It also sets up a direct challenge to federal drug law, which regulates it as an illegal substance. Federal authorities have not said how they will respond.
"

Washington state also passed a similar amendment, but with stricter rules. Regardless of your stance on the matter, this is a real kick in the groin to the black market! Less demand for illegal shipments and no fear from local police forces is a good thing.

And Oregon, surprisingly, rejected a similar law.

Pundits say the Oregon proposal was badly worded and poorly funded, unlike the Washington one.

Yeah i heard the same thing about what happened in Oregon, but I think it was still close. I
'll try to look up those numbers. Also, Massachusetts passed a vote yesterday allowing it for medicinal use as well.

What really surprised me the most is that this is outright LEGALIZATION for recreational use, not for medicinal use. I've always thought that people calling it "medicinal marijuana" or "medicine" is a lie and a sham just to make it sound more legitimate. The vast majority of people who want to legalize it dont have cancer, anxiety, or any other disease. They just want to get high, just like how people drink beer to get drunk. I wish they could all just be honest and open about that.

As I recall, the number was something like 53-47 in Washington, and 48-52 in Oregon, so yeh, both were pretty close.  (I may be a point or two off)

I've been saying they should legalize the stuff for recreational use for many years now.

And I've never even been a fan of the stuff.
All right, I’ve been thinking, when life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man whose gonna burn your house down – with the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!
