It can be where you live now, where you used to live, where you want to live, whatever.

In my case, it's Astoria, Oregon where I was born and raised.  It was (back then) pretty much as Finnish as you could be without being adjacent to the Baltic Sea.

It was surprisingly tough to pick a picture I thought would be representative but still have some artistic value without being too smooshy.  In the end, I finally made a web page of all the pictures that made it to my personal 'final'.

Here is the one I finally selected, as it includes many of the elements I associate with Astoria (gray clouds, big river, ships at anchor, and the occasional sun breaking through the clouds).

But it'd still be nicer than the 108 degree weather I'm hanging with right now.

Astoria, Oregon...

I work as a truck driver so I get to drive through Astoria all the time at night and wow, is it ever nice!  I just kill the radio, roll down the windows and breath the sweet ocean air and enjoy that cool breeze.  I love how clean everything is without being overly-gentrified.  Everything still has a very "Ma & Pa" quality to it.  Also, a LOT of pirate-themed businesses, I'm assuming to cash in on The Goonies being filmed there.  It's a welcome relief from driving through Washington where every hole-in-the-wall town brags about being a Twilight shooting location (I'm looking at YOU, Kalama!)  However, I'm disappointed that the Astoria PR Board has neglected to cash in on Kindergarten Cop being filmed there as well.

I hated the place when we moved here but after 25+ years it kind of grows on you. I could have posted one of the downtown buildings up close but Atlanta isn't just downtown. It's everything around it too.

Hint: It's not me in the picture, so if you want to call him awesome but think it's really just me trying to trick you all into calling me awesome, don't worry.  I already know I'm awesome and don't need you to tell me that.

Well... there is also Three Ponds Tavern, Party Girlz Entertainment,and Everett's Cove Marina and Ice Cream.  And if you overdo those, there's always the Milton Police Dept.

Ever heard of Rye Beach, NH (on the coast) or Portsmouth, ME,  Mrweasel? I was thinking about posting a picture from there. I have some family there, really beautiful little coast town, much more than where I live now...

as the the highlights... with the exception of the marina none are actualy on the shown picture (google stupid) and 1/2 the road names are also incorrect and 3/4s of them are dirt. (ok i wrong looked back at pic, tavern is on the far left side of pic, and no idea what "party girls" is, no such place around here ( i would know trust me) summer population about 3000 winter 800ish (i one the the stupid 800) and i HATE the Summer people (the time sharer's are the worst) they litter everywhere, ruin trails and are just plain distructive too woods water and wildlife. The campers at the campground are another story most of them are at least respectful (Mi Te' Jo is Indian owned operated and protected and home to the last Abernacki Powwow of the year and is most of the upper lefthand corner on the NH side the main (and only) building is just off the pic )
And summer people seldom have more then a single beer at 3Ponds (they have the marina bar (just over the line in ME) and is much more to their likeing)

It's hard to pick one as Aalborg has many different areas with very different appearances. In the east, we have the 70s concrete blocks and the industry. In the west, we have almost solely 5-6 story buildings, and in the center we have a mix of modern malls and a lot of beautiful old buildings. I chose the older buildings in town: Jens Bangs Stone Manor from 1623:
