Carib - awesome pictures man. I hope the New Year finds you well.

Do you happen to have a photojournal/blog or viewable photobucket gallery? It would be cool to see anything else you might have.

I'm absolutely definately single again and sort of counting my blessings.

The upshot is that I'm one-meal-a day and rent-arrears poor at the moment and christmas and new year was a solitary experience.  I splashed out on some alcohol at new year and fell asleep at 8 or 9PM so I missed the bells so that kind of bugs me too.

I've been sitting in the house doing nothing much but getting drunk by myself and lamenting the mistakes I've made in relationships/life in general and wishing I was back where I was a couple of years ago.

The saving grace is that I'll be going back to Uni at the end of year and hopefully getting out of this depressing city.

I'm HDMI positive! I got my HDTV a couple of days ago and Comcast was out today to hook it all up. I can get a really nice picture w/sound from my PC to the TV as well.  8)

The only problem I'm having is my picture from my DVD to the TV. My DVD player is a little old but it had the new cable connections available. The green/blue/red kind (component or composite? I always get them mixed up). Anyway when I use those the input channel they use causes the screen to be really green. When I switch back to regular yellow/red/white cables it works fine but obviously doesn't have the sharper pic.

Anyway, I'm very happy with it and I'm sure I'll figure out what's wrong with the DVD player sometime soon.  :)

Hey 'yall.

I'm in Vegas right now and I love it. This place seems to have about twice the space of my old place. We have an extra bedroom, a walk-in closet, another room, another bathroom, a bigger kitchen and a fireplace. All this for about $250 LESS than I was paying in California.

Las Vegas has a interesting feel about it. With the exception of the Strip, most of the people here aren't 'made up' as much. eg. Not as much makeup, more casual dress and the like. That's fine with me. I like casual. It's a bit sureal to look and see the Strip from near out place. My place faces away from the Strip but once I get on the road I can see many of the hotels. They surrounding area is very nice. Nearly anything that I would want in my day to day life is around me. I'm within easy walking distance to groceries stores, martial arts schools, bookstores, restaurants and the like. Of course there's a casino next to me. While I don't gamble ($20.00 is my limit) it's nice to go and get a $5.99 all you can eat buffet. That should keep grocery bills down.

So the move over here was very tiring. My boyfriend and I had to move heavy boxes full of books, sofas and other heavy items. Then we have to unload it and my body hurts very badly. I feel like I felt when I was doing Krav. I can touch the back of my neck and feel a circular wave of pain. I'm just mainly very sore and if I stay somewhat still than I'm ok. =) My poor boyfriend had a cold so I'm sure it was more rough on him. He had to leave before me so he could get the keys to the place. So I cleaned out the place, took pictures just in case the landlord decides to be a jerk and claim "Massive damage". So I packed up the truck and moved to Summerly... Summerlin that is. Gambling centers... and movie stars.

The super scary part was around Fontana. There were high winds in the area and I saw about 8 overturned Semi trucks. I had to pull over because the winds were pounding the truck. I stayed at the side of the road for about 20 minutes and the winds were still pounding the truck. Finally I thought: “I don’t want to be here all day” so I got back on the freeway and drove at about 20 miles a hour. I got behind a semi truck that was going really slow and I was happy about that. It took about 20 minutes and it was about the most scared I’ve been in a long time. Imagine being in a huge moving van with winds forcibly moving your van, having to drive with the steering wheel pointed at a weird angle and being on bridges with a 100 foot drop. But I made it. =)

Well… let me finish this. We need to get some stuff out of our other storage unit that’s here and that area is about 20 miles away from us. (When I picked it, I had no idea where we would eventually live so it was about as good as any other place. It was the cheapest so I picked it). However we want to go soon because that area (The cheapest) is where the Homeless set up tents to sleep thoughout the night. I should leave soon. I'll write again when I get more set up.

Hugs,

Jen

Will I get Night Owl points for quitting but not as much for getting fired?
Will I still be a member of the Owl's Pals? I'd hate to turn in my card. It's got a real owl feather under the lamination and everything.

:laugh:How is it that you can drive down the L.A. Freeway yelling at ppl while talking on your cell , and you get scared driving a truck in high winds? I think Petrarch still has gray hairs from driving with you. lol! The wackiest things happen while you are driving. :)

Glad you're getting settled in and things are looking good.

I'm making plans to go back to Arkansas this year, but I'm waiting for the airport to open in Baxter. It's supposed to open this month, so now I'm just debating on if I should go during spring break or wait until summer. Spring break is so short though, and I haven't seen my parents in a long time.:( I wish I could get my husband to move there, but it's just too much redneck for him.
No matter how much you push the envelope, it will still be stationary.

Hee... =) I think it's because I saw the actual results of the high winds. eg. Trucks on the side of the road.

Ah... driving in LA and practicing my Spanish to the residents of East Los Angeles... what memories.

Sorry, I couldn't hear you over the memory of that huge picture thread you posted of your arduous commute through Kauai.

Just got back to school. Train wasn't quite as sucky as usual, but still some quirks. Met a cute family, at least the kids were cute, dont think they were planned. Has digital camera. Will prolly post some pic soon. My hair is brighter red then the last time I dyed it.
In case of rapture, can I have your car?

I remember that. One of the best commutes ever... even though I could never have a hair style. Wind blowing against me one way and wind blowing my hair in front of me one way.

I need to get a camera. There's so many interesting things here that it's a shame to not take pictures. We went to a park with a giant Tiki head on a island in the middle of a lake and took Junie (our Cairn Terrier) to a dog run.

We went to a casino near us to check out a retro arcade but they didn't have many games.

Later today, I'm going to a dog park. But I have a job interview in less than two hours for a internet marketing company. Wish me luck! =)

Oh, our old landlord called and said we would be getting our full deposit back. This is nice. I'm still not counting on it until it's in our hands.

OH Celeste! I'm relatively back so just let me know if you need me to do anything with the sailing designs. This has been a busy three weeks, hence my slowness.

Filling out some of the lesser known job sites right now. eg. One's specific to a company.

Thank God I have Roboform to autofill some of the tabs. This would take forever.

On a side note... seems I can't select the race tab on many of these. Kinda surprised there's no 'Other' or 'Mixed Race' choice for many of these sites.

I prefer Mutt-American.

There's a race-tab?!?

Oh yeah... and a sex tab. (Imagines Bluecross getting excited at the prospect of being able to put sex on a tab)

It's there to help with Affirmative action compliance and it's usually voluntary to fill it out.  I'm not a fan of races or a gender getting a preference due to quotas (even where I can benefit) so I tend to not fill them out. Just depends on my mood or if the online application is coded where you can't move on until you fill out all the tabs.

Some are really minimum with the choices which is amazing since America is so multi cultured. eg.

African-American
Caucasian
Hispanic

That's it. No other races exist. No Asian, No Mixed, No Native American, etc.

What should a Aztec, Mayan, Spaniard, Black, Cherokee, Apache, Dutch American pick?
