Good thing I didn't stress about those complicated assignments. They told me not to do them. =D

Just do a newsletter, leave the passwords, show people how to do a few things, post a job advertisement to help someone with minor graphics and admin and that's it. So just one more day (Monday) and I'm free. I also get about $250.00 in unused vacation time.

I now have 300 Owl Points. =)

Will I get Night Owl points for quitting but not as much for getting fired?
Will I still be a member of the Owl's Pals? I'd hate to turn in my card. It's got a real owl feather under the lamination and everything.

Night Owl: Oh, indeed. I quit many a job ...better than being fired. You can keep your card... in fact, you get double points for quitting!

You really should. I'll remake the card as a high quality downloadable pdf if you like. Maybe link it to some cafepress items?

Cool. How many points do you get for teling your boss to stick it in front of half a dozen customers and then merrily strolling out the store?

Since I was so sick a couple of nights ago I have been thinking about giving my parents a list of things to do should something happen to me but I don't want to freak them out. I just want my bases to be covered. I don't imagine most people my age worry about doing such a thing so I have to ask, am I being too morbid in doing so?

The list is just stuff like who to notify, where the numbers for those people are, forums to post on  :P , info about my cats and which gets what food, how many pills George gets per day, etc.

It's just that as I was sitting up in pain the other night while trying to fall asleep these things crossed my mind. If I was to keel over right now, my parents wouldn't have any contact numbers or anything. They might not remember to keep Tony on his prescription food. They might not know to notify some online folk. After all, I'd feel really bad if I just disappeared from here one day with no explanation (even though some of you might prefer it that way  ;D ). I could even have them post it in the debate forums so you could argue about whether it was good news or not.  ;)

So...am I doing the right thing with the list?

I think so. Even if you aren't sick, you could always get hit by a car. I should make one too.

I'm guessing 350 points. It's more points than quitting but not as dramatic as having security escort you out. Maybe 400. Perhaps take a video of the Sticking and have villagers vote on it and take the average?

Tell your Sgt that he doesn't look grizzled enough. He should try a cigar or perhaps carry a three day growth of beard.  ;)

I'm very glad to hear things are going well for you there and that the people are being friendly. Hopefully we can get you all out of there soon.  :)

Great pics Carib! I'm sorry I haven't e-mailed you but my kids have taken my computer hostage for the holiday.:( I think I liked it better when they didn't know how to use the computer.

Christmas was great. This is the first year that I didn't have a bunch of exchanges to make. Everyone liked what I got them and everything fit. Wow! That's a miracle, specially with teens.:)

Right now, I'm dealing with Poison Ivy. It was a gift from my husband. lol! He had to cut down 3 huge trees for his boss the day b4 Christmas and they were covered in ivy vines. They all forgot that Ivy dies in the winter, but if you cut the vine, the juice from inside is still poisonous. All three guys are covered in it.:( So far I'm the only wife to get it. I'm dealing with it, but it still pisses me off. Some things just don't need to be shared and poison Ivy is one of them. lol!
No matter how much you push the envelope, it will still be stationary.

Per a reminder from Brug... I'm updating.

Here's what happened and some background.

When I planned my vacation, I had no idea that I would be leaving right after. I also had no idea the owners would be in New York.

So I wrote a civil letter stating that there was a sudden last minute opportunity in Las Vegas and my boyfriend and I would be leaving to pursue them. I wanted to tell them face to face but I had to settle for a e-mail. They took it very well. Usually the wife is very angry. This time she just went: "Well... she's gotta do what she's gotta do." I got two days of vacation time paid and today's my last day. There were no Christmas bonuses this year so I didn't get one nor did anyone else. =/

So... last day. All I have to do is the newsletter, do the schedule and point to my files on the desktop. Should be fairly easy. Then I have to go home and move boxes and clean though out the night.

One thing of note is this. I never saw such admiration in people's eyes.

One lady said: "Get the ____ out of here. You're smart for leaving."

One guy said after putting his hand on my shoulder in that 'I'm proud of you mood': "Good for you. Get the ___________ out of here."

Another lady said: "You're smart. You don't say anything (yet I post and could have Myspaced myself) and you leave. Good for you for getting the ______ out of there."

Lots of little things like: "Yeah... I don't blame you." "I wish I could leave." "I think I'll quit soon."

There is something very empowering in telling essentially telling an employer: "You're not giving me what I need. I'm quiting because I'm so sure I can find something better."

So it went well.

@Tink: Ouch! Hope you got some Aloe Vera plants around the house, poison ivy sucks :S As for presents, no returns?  :stunned:

@Carib: Lovely pics, makes me pissed about my back again, wish I could go sometime too :/ Keep safe down there, and merry christmas and happy new year :)

@Dooms: Sounds like you did exactly what was needed, and good luck down in Vegas! Hopefully you got the others to start thinking as well and a bad boss will suddenly find him/herself without employees!
