Obama's pick for his Chief of Staff was the director of Freddie Mac for 13 months during the scandal. New administration so very different from the old administration.  ::)

President-elect Barack Obama's newly appointed chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, served on the board of directors of the federal mortgage firm Freddie Mac at a time when scandal was brewing at the troubled agency and the board failed to spot "red flags," according to government reports reviewed by ABCNews.com.

In the debate forum?  :inquisitive:

Tell ya what, if Obama appoints someone not connected to a crooked company that's paid him off I'll post it here but A) that's unlikely to happen and B) what would we debate about it?

Your assumptions are incredible (at best).

Naive, bigoted, and far-fetched is more accurate.

Heh, second time I've been called a racist because I criticized "The One". Rational arguments out the window it seems. Can you defend his appointment of this guy or are you just going to call me a bigot?

Oh that's right, I forgot that only Republicans are corrupt and The One is going to bring change. So totally ignore that he's following in their footsteps. It must all be a mistake for The One can't possibly be just another crooked politician. The One is going to bring rainbows and unicorns from on high that will magically alight on our rooftops and leave enough money in our homes to pay for our mortgage and gas.  ::)

By the way, holding Obama to a different standard because he is black is racist. Holding him to the same standard isn't.

I did NOT call you a racist, nor do I think you are.  I called  you 'bigoted' as it pertains to your strong left wing/right wing views.

Finnish, Rutabaga Casserole

for some reason...this came to mind

Dump out the Yucky Stuff
Performed by: Boober with Gobo and Wembley

Oh how I wish,
I could just swish up,
That one special dish,
That they thought was delish.
But when I make something terrif,
They pass out with only one whiff.

And they say,
Take it away.
Throw the stuff out.
Where there's a will,
There is always some doubt.
It may not be finished,
But why mess about?
It's probably yucky for sure.

This soup's over done.
That puree's too lumpy.
My ring mold's too jumpy.
My cakes way a ton.
The turnip pie's burnt or it's raw.
The souffle just walked through the door.

And so it's,
Take it away.
Throw the stuff out.
Where there's a will,
There is always some doubt.
It may not be finished,
But why mess about?
Ah, it's probably yucky for sure.

Ok so what is right wing about me wanting Obama to appoint uncorrupted people to his administration? I said during the election that I didn't like either McCain or Obama because they were owned by corporate money. I said my major concern with Palin was her ties to corporate money when she supposedly was a reformer as well. I even started out way back at the beginning saying how I favored Obama out of the Democrats because he was newer to politics and less likely to be owned by corporate money. My view changed as I found out more about him and the corruption in his past. How am I being inconsistent on this point at all in favor of one side or the other?

More appointments for lobbyists! Yay America!

Barack Obama campaigned on a pledge to change Washington, vowing to upend the K Street lobbying culture he encountered when he joined the U.S. Senate.

But more than a dozen members of President-elect Obama's fast-growing transition team have worked as federally registered lobbyists within the past four years. They include former lobbyists for the nation's trial lawyers association, mortgage giant Fannie Mae, drug companies such as Amgen, high-tech firms such as Microsoft, labor unions and the liberal advocacy group Center for American Progress.

Mark Gitenstein, one of the 12 transition board members who will play a significant role in shaping the Obama administration, worked on million-dollar lobbying contracts with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and promoted legislation for giant defense contractors Boeing and General Dynamics. Until this fall, he was registered to petition Congress and the Securities and Exchange Commission on behalf of AT&T, Merrill Lynch, KPMG, Ernst & Young and others.

Snip ---

In a 2007 speech, he said he was "running to tell the lobbyists in Washington that their days of setting the agenda are over. They have not funded my campaign. They won't work in my White House."

And of course I can't pass up the opportunity to post about Hillary as Secretary of State. I'll just let Blue Dog Dem Kirsten Powers speak for me here as I agree with almost everything she says at the link.

Just a reminder of who she is from her wiki entry - Originally from Fairbanks, Alaska, Powers served in the Clinton administration as the Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Public Affairs and was the Vice President for International Communications at America Online. Later she was a Vice President at the AOL-Time Warner Foundation.

Powers has worked for the New York State Democratic Committee, was the press secretary for Andrew Cuomo for Governor and Communications Director on the mayoral campaign of C. Virginia Fields. She also worked on the "Vote No on 3" campaign which overwhelmingly defeated Mayor Michael Bloomberg's ballot initiative to eliminate party primaries. Powers was also the press secretary for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair race of Donnie Fowler. She has consulted for a variety of non-profit organizations including Human Rights First and the National Council for Research on Women (NCRW).

Excerpt -

So what will happen when the inevitable policy disagreement arises - say, on talking to Iran - between the Obama and Clinton camps? Before you can say, "leak," the Clinton's side of the story will be all over the press, making the president look weak.

Candidate John Kerry learned this lesson in 2004 after bringing on some Clinton aides to save his campaign. Within days, he was humiliated by a story in The New York Times about how he had called Bill Clinton - recuperating from surgery in the hospital - to get advice about how to run his campaign.

So as it turns out Obama may not make unicorns and rainbows appear as he walks on water.

So as it turns out Obama may not make unicorns and rainbows appear as he walks on water.

Then... I shall make it happen.

The rainbow is behind the unicorn... just out of view.

Will I get Night Owl points for quitting but not as much for getting fired?
Will I still be a member of the Owl's Pals? I'd hate to turn in my card. It's got a real owl feather under the lamination and everything.

Night Owl: Oh, indeed. I quit many a job ...better than being fired. You can keep your card... in fact, you get double points for quitting!

None of your liberal excuses. We were promised rainbows!
