So I've basically decided to buy a new computer for warhammer
« on: September 25, 2008, 07:38:10 PM »
And here's the build my buddy threw together for me at new egg this morning, though I'm going over to his place after work to hammer it out some more.

Unfortunately I'm a lapsed geek and I don't really know anything about the technical side of computers aside from high numbers = good.  I feel like I could go higher than 2.5 ghz for the processor but since my buddy usually knows what he's talking about I'm assuming that the other numbers on the processor make it extra super.

So, how's this baby look for the price?

I fall and I leap and
I'm freaking out
Nowhere near my place and I
Know that they've seen me now

huh, it didn't look like my attachment was working when I tried to preview my post, which is why I stuck it on my filespace and linked to it instead.  Well.  ENJOY LOOKING AT MY TENTATIVE NEW COMPUTER TWICE

I picked up a dual-core 2.6GHZ 2 years ago when my old system died, so gut instinct alone would force me to go for more more more. But the only time I ever really know computers is when I'm buying a new one, and not even really then.

BTW it's spelled F-A-L-L-O-U-T, not warhammer.

That's actually a good point.  I'm so used to having a shitty computer that it never even occurred to me that I could play FO3 on anything besides my 360.  If I buy this new box I guess I could get it for PC!

Man, now I have to find out if there's a significant difference between the platforms in FO3's case.  Shenanigans!

There is.
With the PC version, you can take screenshots and show us how you're doing XD

I was looking around and I saw a great CPU/power supply combo I may get instead of the one he recommended.

It's faster and it's cheaper!

From what I understand, there will be no toolkit, essentially killing it on PC (for me, anyway). The whole point of a purchase for the PC for me would be to play mods. Otherwise, what's the point?

You mean aside from not having to kick up $300 for an xbox?
