H.P. Lovecraft
« on: August 28, 2008, 08:01:29 PM »
So I was recently reading about H.P. Lovecraft (well, who wouldn't?) on  wikipedia and found some 'interesting' quotes about him.

The guy seemed pretty nuts to me and the article does nothing to dissuade that view.  But among the more interesting quotes is one from his estranged wife:  "an adequately excellent lover".

wtf?  What the hell does that mean?  And how would she know?  She been playing around on him?  The bitch!

hehe funny you should mention lovecraft and adultry in the same post lol

well as some might know I am origanly from providence RI (lovecrafts home town) and many was the time my grandmother took me to Swan Point cemetary to visit a certain family plot to put down fresh flowers and she would often shed a few tears and tell me a bit about him. He was about 10 years older then my grandmother (she being born in 1900 i would guess HP at around 1890ish)
While I was never told for a fact that she was any more then a friend.... She did NOT cry at my grandfathers grave (though she did visit it almost as often)

I have always wondered.... Was Memere' the mysterious "birthday visitor" to his grave (though the tradition carried on after her death and is still going on)(oh i didn't mention on his birthday a dozen roses and an "empty" bottle of wine appeared every year after his death at the grave site)

that's about it, is about the only juicy peice of family gossip my family ever generated
(myself excluded of course)
You May Soar with the eagles but Weasels do not get sucked into ramjets! Gotta watch out for the hovercrafts though...
