Microsoft @ E3 - includes new Fallout 3 trailer
« on: July 15, 2008, 12:02:16 AM »
Microsoft had their E3 speech today, and before we get to the other info, lets start with the tasty Fallout 3 trailer done in a mock 50's info-advert, which leads into a teaser and finally - wait for it - actual gameplay footage!  ;D

Fallout 3 E3 08 Trailer

All I can say is sweet mercy, my fever pitch for Fallout 3 just went off the scales. Also of note is that the downloaded content they've planned for the future is exclusive to the PC and 360.

In other events:

Fable 2 is confirmed finished and is slated for an October release and here's a new screenshot along with a Hands-On article.

The 360 is getting a new dashboard interface and avatars and also they're going to allow games to be installed to the hard drive at the users choice.

Gears of War 2 is confirmed for a November 7th release.

OH...

MY...

GOD!!!!

I just downloaded it via Xbox Live. It's amazing!

Loved the Springfield Elementary reference. =D

Fable 2 also looks amazing.
Will I get Night Owl points for quitting but not as much for getting fired?
Will I still be a member of the Owl's Pals? I'd hate to turn in my card. It's got a real owl feather under the lamination and everything.

Just found the Fable 2 Trailer on Live and I like what I see. There's also a Gameplay footage teaser. Quality of the image is fine but it's pretty boring and whoever made the video really dropped the ball on the editing.

Bungie are also up to something but no word on what yet. I'm hoping it's something to do with Marathon.

On a thread on the forums of a certain site that shall remain nameless (as odds are you know which one I mean) some folks have gone into overtime mode with piling on the hate towards Bethesda and what they've done to Fallout 3 and how the game will be a failure.

I personally think it's fantastic what we've seen from E3 and it's gone down a treat with everyone here it seems.

agreed. i was almost giddy with fanboy-ism while watching the trailer.

and those slow motion kill shots? totally badass!

it's just too bad i won't have as much to play it as i'd like to have (school and all).

I hate fanboys. I'll give anything half a chance before I'll judge it.

For example, when Fallout came out, it was nothing like Wasteland, the game it was a spiritual successor to. I wouldn't say I liked either one better than the other. Both had well fleshed out storylines and NPC interactions. (Though, memory and disk space being what it was at the time, Wasteland used a booklet of paragraphs that detailed NPC interactions in the storyline.) At first I wasn't sure I would like FO when I started playing, since I was expecting something more along the lines of Wasteland, but it didn't take long to realize that the game had all the charm of the Wasteland, even if the gameplay was completely different.
All right, I’ve been thinking, when life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade! Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man whose gonna burn your house down – with the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!
