but my nephew's wife sent me an email asking me to donate some money for a cause. And I will.
I normally do support such causes; what I normally don't do is solicit from my friends. But in this case, the Village has been more family than friends and the cause is Good so I thought I would forgo my normal reticence.
And certainly don't donate if you can't afford it, or you don't normally contribute to charitable events, or if you just don't want to. No problem at all.
Anyway, here is the gist of what she sent me (and apologies for those who believe I may have overstepped some boundaries):
Happy New Year!
The Jarvinen family would like to ask for your support.
This year, we will be participating in the Walk for Water in support of Water Missions International (WMI).
Every day millions of people have to walk miles and miles just for water. Most of the time, the water they can find is contaminated and makes them sick. I am excited because Water Missions International is changing lives, one community at a time, through their sustainable safe water solutions.
On Saturday, March 21, 2015, we will be participating in the Silicon Valley Discipleship Walk for Water. We will carry a bucket of water in a 4-mile walk to mimic the trek millions of people face on a daily basis just to get water that is necessary for their day-to-day activities.
Each and every dollar raised by our Walk for Water is going to make an impact through a safe water community development project!
Won’t you consider making a donation to support our vision? Any amount ($5, $10, $25, $50, etc) will be greatly appreciated!
Your donation is 100% tax deductible.
Please go to http://events.watermissions.org/goto/Jarvinens for the details.
Together we can make a difference and be a part of the impact!
Walk on!
