It seems to be industry that's leading the opposition to the human-induced-climate-change model.  Followed up by politicians who rely on the industry groups for campaign contributions or, to a lesser degree, votes (politicians representing a region heavily reliant on industry for its economic stability, for example.)

I really don't see the impasse being solved any time soon.  The people who accept the science don't have the right personality types to succeed in politics these days.
