It's "masturbate". Masterbate makes me think of someone who's really skilled at holding their breath.

I'm sure someone out there combines the two in strange ways...

Autoerotic asphyxiation?

Meh.

Really, I blame the whole thing on the third parties. This was arguably the first election where they could have actually won, thus establishing themselves as relevant. But the Greens and the Libertarians put up horrible candidates. Seriously. If I were the head of the Green party I would have have begged Ralph Nader (who isn't actually a Green, but ran for them previously) to run again. He certainly would have been better than any of the other choices. And the Libertarians should have had their Veep be running as for Pres, and gotten someone with a clue to run as Veep.

The two major parties put up very unlikable candidates. It was a golden chance for the other parties. But they shat the bed.

Do I think Hillary would have been better than Trump. Yep! Do I think she was a particularly good candidate? Nope! But I sure as Hell wasn't voting for anyone else. And that's really a sad statement for someone who prides himself on usually voting for third parties. I just couldn't do it this time, even though the major party candidate I voted for was probably worse than any of the other major party candidates I could have voted for in other elections/positions.

I mean, you know that's up to you, right?

I got a lady I've been with for around five years.  People keep yelling at me to propose; I keep trying to explaint that I am down but that lady is less down.  Then I think, maybe  I should pop the question and she'll go for it even though she's less down; but maybeshe won't; but ahahhaghahhhhhhh FREAK OUT

but the nice thing is that I continue to have total control over my life and problems.  I mean, I love the lady, she has input, but, uhm

basically what I am trying to say is that whole "OH GOD IF YOU GET MARRIED YOU LOSE YOUR INDEPENDENCE" thing

seems pretty stupid to me.  I'm gonna keep chasing this woman to the end of the world, and if at the end of the world it turns out she's irritating me, then I'm gonna bitch at her
hopefully she'll think maybe I ahve a point
but if she don't think that, I'll think, god damn, life is hard.

Grow the fuck up.

I've been with my partner for about 10.5 years now. Main reason we aren't married is her massive amount of debt. We'd be common law if we lived in a state that recognized it. She's my domestic partner on my company benefits. At the end of the day, marriage is simply a contract that lacks legal consideration (and the only binding contract that doesn't require consideration). It's a piece of paper that carries some nice legal benefits, but at the end of the day, your either committed to your relationship or you aren't. Having official legal standing can make that relationship harder to break off, but that's about it. Marriage is overrated.

I've been married for almost 5 years and my husband has just as much gaming/computer time as before we moved in together. Hell, he even masterbates more than he did before we were married (while still keeping up the interest in me that I expect/hope for).

It's "masturbate". Masterbate makes me think of someone who's really skilled at holding their breath.

We don't have a facebook group, but a lot of us are connected through it (I'm friends with probably 15 or so UV'ers through facebook, even those that no longer hang out here). I'm Grant Anderson and am the only one in Chicago, so I'm easy enough to find. We probably could set one up if enough people think it's worth it.

So I finished Torment: Tides of Numenera a few weeks ago.

It was a great game, but overall not as good as the original Torment. For the most part, the party members weren't as interesting. The game is also noticeably shorter. The combat was also a bit awkward for a modern game. I could go into more detail, but I will say the game is worth playing, and it's one of the better games I've played, but it's not going to make any "best of all time" lists like PS:  T did.

Right now I'm playing both DOOM and Fallout 4.

Glad to hear you're okay.

Taking a trip to Chicago and Minneapolis next month for a few days vacation.

Don't forget to look me up when you're here.

Torment Tides of Numenera
Is it as good/better of Planescape: Torment?

So far it is, granted, I'm not very far in, yet.

It certainly "plays" better than PST did. Then again, from an UI/UX perspective, very few RPG's have aged well.

I've been going old school and playing Half Life:  Opposing Force and Half Life:  Blue Shift.

Maybe because I want to play some short-ish games while I'm waiting for Torment which will be released by the end of the month.

May we all have a better year than the last

That won't take much.

Then again, with our new president, my expectations aren't all that high, so I'm not getting any hopes up that it will actually be better for society as a whole.

Congrats on the PhD.

Sorry to hear you had friends in that fire. I'd be curious to hear the opinions of those who were affiliated with that community as to their take on the whole fiasco, though it's probably a bit too soon for any involved to be in the mood for that sort of thing.

Trump (very narrowly) won this election

Although, he lost the popular vote total by over 200,000 votes.

Then again, during Barack's first term when they had a Democratic majority in both houses of congress for the first two years, after being in this situation once before where the Democrat won the popular vote but lost the electoral college due to the overall distribution of the electoral college skewing slightly Republican (Gore lost to GWB in 2000), they didn't try to push for an end to both it and Gerrymandering. But that seemed par for the course since they didn't seem to accomplish much of Obama's agenda either. The Democratic party has been spineless for a while now. Maybe this will help them grow a proverbial pair.
