In an interesting turn of events, Operation Anchorage is up for download now. I wasn't expecting it until later today.

It's 800 MS Points, which works out around £6.80.

Though it lost out in a number of the tests, when you look at the actual differences, it's actually quite impressive considering it's only a beta and not finished.

I'll be moving to Vista 64 myself soon - had a copy of Vista Ultimate for a while now but never got around to using it. I have to now however as I need a 64 OS due to the amount of RAM involved in the new PC, Core i7 CPU's (a 920 in this case) need it fitted in sets of 3 rather than pairs.

Just a reminder for everyone that Operation Anchorage is out tomorrow (27th) for the PC & 360.

I'll be interested to see if they ever go to Chicago at a later date. Bethesda struck Fallout: Tactics as canon, but during a conversation with one of the Brotherhood scribes he mentions a BoS detachment that was sent to Chicago, but says they went "completely rogue" and simply states "don't ask".

So it seems that a Chicago BoS will be canon, (perhaps a hint at what we might see in Fallout 4?) but Bethesda will be doing it on their own terms for the future. That and I suspect it also serves as a bit of a dig at Tactics.

As to Deathclaws, not only are they rock hard, but they're lightning fast into the bargin. It doesn't happen very often but with the better criticals perk and the A3-21 Plasma rifle it can be possible to 1 shot them however.

Those ruddy sentry bots annoy me more mind. Shot one with the Fat Man out of pure annoyance once which was quite a sight, later swapping to nuka grenades.

Oh, I'm sorry, just one moment. Is this a five minute argument or the full half hour?

No it isn't.

The wording of it saying it's the same as 5 extra points of luck made me think it simply scaled up your luck stat in rolls, but now I think about it, it does make more sense to see it as being an extra 5% on top of that.

I don't have a save file but there'd probably be some way to take it apart in the GECK to prove it for sure.

As best as I can remember, when you come to select perks, the select screen ignores bonuses and checks against your base value for their requirements.

39
The skill modifier, which is +5 to all, caps out at 9 for luck, so having 10 only nets you an extra 1% critical chance at that stage. Personally I prefer to keep luck around 6 (base value for getting the better criticals perk) and use the finesse perk instead as it rolls your combat as if your luck is 10 at that point.

Unwashed Village / Re: Tabula Rasa : Last chance saloon!

Nope, barring any last minute change of mind by NCsoft, Tabula Rasa is officially toast on Feb 28th.

A combination of bad marketing, stupid development decisions and releasing too early have all worked together to kill the game. If it had of been in the state at launch that it is now, things may have been different. I've also come to the conclusion that NCsoft simply don't understand the western market and assume it works the same as the asian market.

I read an interview with Garriott this morning that seems to imply he had very little influence left over the game and it was NCsoft calling most of the shots.

Operation Anchorage has been confirmed for release on Jan 27th.

Just been playing Tomb Raider, Fallout, Mirror's Edge and a bunch of other stuff lately.

That and I've got nothing in particular or of Earth shattering consequence to say anyway.

I hated the ending.  I agree with others that it was ill-conceived, poorly implemented and the most significant disappointment in the game, and for similar reasons to those already mentioned.

You should be pleased to hear then that everything I've read about the Broken Streel DLC planned for March (which admittedly isn't much so far) is not only raising the level cap, but it's going to retcon the ending too. If you chose the good ending, physically changing it is about the only way to explain how you've got the same character after the main quest is over.

On another note, in my continuing exploration of the available mods, I've installed one that decreases item decay by 80% - perhaps I'm just imagining things but I don't recall seeing the condition bar drop that rapidly on the console versions. I've not figured out how to alter the decay rate within the GECK myself and increasing the health was the only way I knew of to make a weapon last longer than its base state.

The other is a weapon mod that adds a Desert Eagle to the game. Rather than use it as-is, I tinkered with it a bit as it was intended to work with a 2nd mod that adds a .50 cal ammo type to the game. I chucked that bit of it away, simply installed the textures/meshes for the gun itself and re-saved the plugin. The gun itself came across as rather overpowered I thought, so I cut the damage, decreased the AP cost slightly, altered the ammo and repair scripts and the upshot of it is that the game now treats it essentially as a more powerful version of the 10mm pistol. It's not quite how I want it just yet, as the gun is scoring a critical hit with almost every shot, so it still needs toned down a little.

Unwashed Village / And the Doctor regenerates into...

The 11th Doctor

He also becomes the youngest actor to play the Doctor. He's appeared in a few things but hasn't really had his big break, until now that is.

From what I've seen of him in the reveal show, it looks fairly promising as the next step from Tennant.

Happy Bday mate, hope it was a good one.

As I once said to you several years back, "There's no such thing as old, only seasoned."
