Oh, do reply when you've played it a few more times. I'm a huge board game geek, and I've been pondering adding this one to the list.

Anyway, here's the news: I'm one week away from beginning the journey into Fatherhood, we're having (non-identical) twin girls. I need to figure out this parenting job as I go along.

Great news! You'll love it. At least over time. Sleep while you still can ;)

.NET
(...)
Ah, awesome - right up my alley as well. I've been working quite extensively with WPF, but am currently resigned to an older WinForms app until we can create a new version (we acquired an older system with source). We're working on an automated trading system for the energy market (power, gas, oil, carbon emissions, etc.), which is breaking new ground for me, domain wise. It also lets me join in a little on the analytical/data science stuff, which I find really interesting - machine learning in particular.

I'm slightly smitten by .NET Core and Docker at the moment, which of course doesn't really cover the front end. I use Angular for web, with TypeScript to keep my hands off iffy Javascript - at least until ECMAScript6.

Anyway, I would rant about this stuff for ages. Congrats on your new position. If it doesn't work out, come to Denmark - I can find you a job at my company with your background :)

I start a new software engineering position on January 22nd. It pays 8% more than my current software position and is a more senior-level position as well.

I'm going to give my notice at my current company probably on Wednesday.

Congratulations! Working with any particular stack?

We could always start a MySpace....
That is actually a good idea. Hook me up on ICQ or send me a fax, and I'd like to help!

Along that vein... Does the unwashed village have an official leader or membership? I mean - who pays the bills around here??

We are anarcho-syndicalist commune - we elect leaders from within the community every time a non-government, non-coorporation buys a barge.

I pay for the hosting. It's part of an elaborate money laundering / pyramid scheme. For legal reason, you are now officially the owner and CEO of several companies headquartered in Uruguay.

Other than that, I upgrade this board every time we are attacked by spambots and/or during the small windows of time during the hunting season when I'm not drunk or participating in high-stakes spelling bees in Venezuela.

I check the forum regularly, but as you may have noticed, there is not much activity. Pure nostalgia compels me to keep it alive. It's been nearly 18 years since I joined, and I have a lot of treasured memories.

I still have a dream of reviving the community some day. My best plan so far has been to lure people in with bees.

It's "masturbate". Masterbate makes me think of someone who's really skilled at holding their breath.

I'm sure someone out there combines the two in strange ways...

Glad you and yours are ok, Aldy. It's hitting a little close to home :(

I've turned to puzzle games recently: The Witness and The Room are both very good.

I had this discussion with four New Yorkers I met on a bar in Budapest two weeks ago. Three of them were Trump supporters, one Hillary. All of them were there to teach US Politics.

The Trump supporters were mainly voted for him becuase they thought Hillary was a criminal (Haiti, the e-mails, etc.). But it also turns out that they had all voted republican as far back as they had been able to vote.

As an outsider, I can't imagine any scenario where out of 300+ million people, these are the two you wind up with.

Well. It's been a while since I posted, so here goes.

My daughter is 3 years now, and still awesome.
- She's picking up phrases from her old folks she really shouldn't. Apparently I say 'For Fucks Sake' a lot.
- She now refers to the Pastor in church as 'the sorcerer' as my explanation of how a baptism works included 'magic'.

My fiancee is pregnant again, due August 5 (soon!).

We should probably get married at city hall for now. Danish laws kinda sorta require you to get married in order for my fiancee to stay in the house should something happen to me. I just feel it's lackluster, but we don't have time at the moment for a wedding proper.

Got a new dog as well - a border terrier.

Oh, and a new job. Switch from Team Black (oil-sector) to Team Green (renewable energy-sector). Oh, and my new job also got acquired by a large British conglomerate. (Last time it was AVEVA, this time it's Centrica, which in turn is owned by British Gas).

All in all, life's pretty awesome. I'm spending most of my evening programming a smarthome system. One of these days, I'll get to the UV game I really want to make. But I keep changing genres on the idea.

Hm.. And I just checked. It seems that either my memory is failing, or it was never right in the first place.

Anyway, the backups I have all date AFTER the creation of this board, meaning back to August 2007. I have no idea where the older backups went, if they ever existed. But I seem to vaguely recalling trying to import some older stuff onto this board.

Man, this must be what Bluecross feels like all the time. :p

I'm not sure I follow you. Work has gotten you in a bad mood, and now you're asking for a movie to make you feel even worse?

I wanted a cathartic cry. The idea was to build the emotions to the breaking point then the hormone release to would ease some of the emotional stress of holding my tongue.

Ahh.. Well, hopefully you're in a better mood now :D

But next time (not that I hope there will be a next time), try Dear Zachary (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1152758/). It's about a man who is murdered before he can meet his unborn son. The movie is made by his friend. (It's a documentary)

I remember Iggy as well. I can't believe it's been that many years?!

Anyway, I think I have a lot of backups of previous incarnations of the forums somewhere. They are in a very, very raw format however, but it may be possible to get at least the text back up in a poorly implemented (think sticks and gum), readonly, unsearchable, messy way.

Please let me know if this would be something anyone would be interested in. I can't make any promises (and certainly not regarding time), but I can look into whether I still have the old files.
