Friggen priceless...

How could we ever go back to the way we were, where I take advantage of your clear attraction to me so I can have someone at my beck and call? That part of our friendship means so much to me.

It's even good when it's an artificial lake and second-hand cigarette smoke from further along the deck.  Sufficient quantities of scotch can make pretty much anything enjoyable though.

funny how that works

I will be cruising to Bermuda on Sunday. Got a nice suite on the back of the boat. Let me tell ya, there is nothing like a glass (or two) of scotch and a cigar while watching the ocean at night - hopefully, the skies will be clear.

After nearly 2 yrs. I quit my job. They got me to the point where I was in tears at least twice a week and my blood pressure was through the roof. Nobody should be expected to work from 8-5 without a break. This job sucked so much, that I had to bring the phone in the bathroom with me b/c I was the only one that could answer it without saying "Ola". When I started, I was just the cashier. Within two weeks, I was handed a key and asked to close. A couple of months later, it became "we need you to open too". The boss' daughter left, so I was doing the book keeping, billing, scheduling, ordering, etc., aside from cashier, cleaning, detailing cars and drying them off when we got busy(which was a lot). Customers would constantly tell my boss that I needed roller skates. The final straw was when I needed my pay stubs to get my kids health insurance. I asked the boss for a month to print them out, but he kept putting it off. When I finally said, I need them today!, the arguement started. Everyone on that job got paid cash b/c it was easier for them. When I did get my pay stubs, they were only for 30 hours @ $7.50 an hr.. I had to fight to get a raise to $8 an hour and I worked 45-50 hours a week, not 30. I'm beyond pissed right now b/c until I find a different apt., I can't even fight that b/c my old boss is my landlord as well. My crew misses me and wants me to come back, b/c I took good care of them. The whole crew at that car wash was Mexican, and they were the best group of guys I've ever worked with. I miss them, but I can't work under such barbaric conditions. Nobody should have to put up with that.

makes you wish for the good old days at VAC, huh? :)

Sorry to hear it, D. You'll land on your feet - you always do.

I noticed them. And I would think that someone at Bethesda was charged w/ researching the history of Fallout, and we are a solid part of that history.

At the talking to trees part, I was like "wait a minute..." Has anyone tried talking to trees with the Deathclaw arm equipped?? Maybe something happens (like Rebecca in FO2 had an event triggered by doing a certain thing... I forget what it was.)

although they really could have had Bastard Bar in Megaton. That would have been sweet.

Hey Lerk!!

Stick around, man... what have you been up to these days?

well...as I said.. OLDER THAN DIRT I am up to ....
I've played Fallout 3 a lot, but now I have to fight grok for use of the console.
I got laid off (economic downsizing) at the newspaper, and of course no newspapers are hiring, since they're all circling the bowl right now...
and I've tried to get a job with design or internet firms and they are all run by young whippersnappers who take one look at my grey beard and give me the bum's rush out the door...

ha!

anyways, luckily my wife is working, but we're having to live on less than one third of our previous salary, ... I'm trying to get more freelance so I can be Mr. Mom to grok...

oh, and in my spare time I want to start screenwriting.

how is everyone else doing?

I've been real good - passed 40 (almost 44 now), so I'm an official old fart. Met a girl years ago (well, I met half a millioin girls in my life, but you know what I mean ;) ) and we got married about ten minutes into the relationship (well a month.) Been ten... no, 11 years now. Things are about as well as they can be. I got laid off / asked to leave / fired spectacularly a few times, and finally said @#$% it and started doing my own thing. Settled into a nice little online copywriting business. Wrote two books along the way too.

Freelance is definitely the way to go. At the very least, your boss is an a-hole you can at least stomach :)

Good to see you again - you still drawing? You got a portfolio site? Shoot me an e-mail or PM and lemme see it.

In another universe...

"Welcome back to Hollywood Squares."

I'll take Marlyn Monroe please.

"Thanks to the Paul Lynde and James Dean square... you win!"

::shudder::

I'm sure there's a lesson to be learned from this, but unfortunately it seems to be that you must choose between a short and miserable life in exchange for enduring fame OR live a long and reasonably happy life in exchange for that sad "Hollywood Squares"/Late Night Infomercial kind of fame. :'( It's a real Monkey's Paw kind of situation.

Seriously though, the X-rays are getting into kind of tasteless Marylyn memorabilia territory, like they're finally starting to run out of legit stuff after 50 years. I'm just hoping in 10 years it's not like "Up for auction! This nasty clog we snaked out of Marylyn's drain!"

Well, there is a chance of pubes.

Wow - where to start? I was downstairs before school wandering around and for some reason I thought of all you guys. So, here I be.

Thinsg are going well - our eldest is in high school now, our youngest in Grade 6. We're still living in the same place and I'm still gainfully emploed as a principal.

There's a heap of other junk - it's been about a year since I came here - but everyone's well and happy.

Cheers from the Land of Oz

So this means you have a lot of writing to do, right?

Good to see you, bud!
