I set one up, since I have some experience. We could see how it goes.

Unwashed Village / Discord?
« on: October 06, 2022, 12:50:10 AM »
I can't remember if this was asked before but would an Unwashed Village Discord be a good idea? I personally think it will. A good community on there can be a joy and it's a great little app for managing a community, you also get the instant feedback and notifications that a lot of forums lack.

The village is starting to look like Arroyo at the start of Fallout 2 these days and I don't think Bluecross is coming back with a G.E.C.K, I think he just told us that so we'd give him stuff to skip out of town with and spend on booze and hookers.

How we don't have a thread on this is beyond me.

Woo, congrats! :D

BTW, I hear 'The Hanged Man' is a very popular girls' name these days. ;)

Varag sadly wasn't around during my time. It's truly regretable.

My Condolences to the community and those who he touched in life and Varag himself.

/sprinkles some more necromancy on here.

The only real way to see a more lively community would most like to either make a Discord or a Guilded server. Lot easier to post/communicate but that'd be if people still wanted to on a day by day basis.

Just my 2 cents, nothing against web forums as I do kinda miss the old days of the internet!
I've been thinking something similar. Web forums are kind of a dead thing.

Unwashed Village / Re: Thoughts on the end of Bethesda's Forums
« on: August 21, 2021, 01:32:55 PM »
Truth be told, I find it hilarious.

I have nothing against the Bethesda forums but they were more or less used as justification for my friends and I getting kicked off of Tes Wiki, back in the day. The delusional admins at the time said that the Bethesda Forums were laughing at the wiki and disliked it, because of us. Not because UESP rendered it redundant, ten years before it even existed or because it changes admins every year or the fact that most of the articles were empty at the time and even their best stuff didn't hold a candle to uesp.

No, it was PURELY because they had a roleplay segment on their board and the Beth forums were laughing at them over it or looking down on them or something.

Less than ten years later, the bethesda forums get shitcanned and my friends and I have great communities from our exile. Meanwhile, Tes wiki lost a big chunk of its userbase and spent years getting most of it back, going almost completely dead at one point and having several years of a revolving door for Admins and Mods.

As for the dying out of forums, I find it to be quite sad. I miss the days when this place was a bit more active (which is funny, because those days were considered a 'dry spell.')

I suppose we value quick communication a lot more now. Which isn't the worst thing but it just doesn't have the same appeal to me.

Unwashed Village / I found the original Interplay Forums
« on: August 18, 2021, 05:38:42 PM »
Back in College, I got obsessed with looking up old Unwashed Village stuff and at some point I found the original Fallout Feedback Forum from Interplay, including some of Grim Reaper's post and the birth of the Unwashed Village.

Then I lost it for nigh on ten years and I was so pissed with myself for it.

When TK covered us, I brought up that I found it but lost it and the feeling came back. I had to find it again and I did.

I was poking around the Wayback machine and thought I'd have another stab at it, so glad I did. :D

Unwashed Village / Fallout Power Armour in Doctor Who?
« on: August 18, 2021, 09:21:23 AM »
A new trailer for an audio story dropped the other day and I couldn't help but notice how one of the characters on the front cover was wearing T-45 power armour. On closer inspection (with help from a friend who is smarter than me) we deduced that it's NCR Salvaged Power Armour from New Vegas.

No idea why this happened, I'm assuming its been stolen as I doubt anyone could keep their mouth shut about an official crossover or something for this long. Still, it's pretty awesome that two franchises that I like are coming together like this. :P

I saw one of the videos about him and I get the reasons that people dislike the guy.

He had a long running homophobic blog before starting his youtube channel, he won't take criticism on any level and has even banned long time fans from his stream chats for the most trivial of things.

From what I gather, he's quite flawed but harmless.

Ah, Oxhorn was my second guest, since the guy's a bit shady.
I kind of use Oxhorn's content a lot for my Fallout projects, so I've no room to talk. xD

He's kind of a friend of a friend, so that's how I became familiar with his content.

TK Mantis makes good videos, the UV encounter came up and it was pretty well explained.  ;D

I used to watch a bit of TK Mantis, then he got into a weird Youtube war with another Youtuber and I lost interest. Wonder what he's up to now

Was that Ol' Painful?

My job has gone rancid, more or less overnight.

We have a lot of elderly and vulnerable staff, who have been urged to go into the classroom this week. Bare in mind, there is nothing protecting them from the Coronavirus, besides masks and face shields. Meanwhile, they're having to sit shoulder to shoulder with a different kid, every half an hour, packed in a small room with around 30 of them.

Anyone who doesn't think that's very safe and doesn't wish to attend has recieved a lot of berating from the management and a fair few threats. It's clear that the new management look down on us but the level that they do so has only really been made clear this week.

Every day this week I'm seeing people I've grown up with, people that I respect and see as family leave in tears. All because our weak manager can't lead properly, so she has to resort to this rancid behaviour.

On top of that, our former manager got into an incident with them, which they are over reacting to. They've offered to 'protect' us from her but when it comes to the killer virus, we're SOL. I'm not sure I'll ever know the words that can express the level of contempt that I feel for this situation and our joke of a manager, who hasn't left her house since this mess started, gloating about how she gets to work at home in staff meetings with the higher ups.

The people that I work with are some of the kindest, most professional people I've met and what' shappening to them is unforgivable. I'm looking into a way out as there'll be places with jobs available that pay better and people treat you like a human being on top of it.

I wish my management the greatest of success in making the places that they run rancid shit holes. I cannot wait for them to be surrounded by incompitent guttersnipes who all hate eachother and fail time and time again as they cannot work together for more than ten minutes. I hope that she gets the loyalty that she deserves, when all of the people she's looked down on and try to manipulate over the years find themselves in a position, where they can royally screw her over and will do so for one reason or another.

Haven't really been able to express my disgust to anyone in my personal life, don't want it coming back on me, hence the vent.

I hope nobody else here is going through anything like this. Hope you're all hanging in there and are getting through everything as unscathed as possible. <3

Unwashed Village / Re: The Amusing Disaster of Fallout: The Frontier
« on: February 18, 2021, 02:01:03 AM »
I couldn't even get it to work. I installed it but the NPC that finds you at the start just never showed up.
I tried an abundance of possible fixes and was waiting for someone to find one that worked.

If anything can be taken from this mod, it's that Gamebryo/creation's dumbass NPCs should not be trusted with the important task of being the gateway into a DLC/Huge Mod! They're likely to fuck it up, by falling through the floor or hugging a deathclaw and you might end up completely fucked.

I never had that much hype for the Frontier, but I am looking forwards to Cascadia... I hope they don't end up with the same fate, but at least we know the warning signs now.
Same, I was a lot more excited for Project Brazil/New California. I actually really enjoyed that one and besides a few iffy things about it, it's mostly quite good IMO.
Frontier I was willing to give a chance, it seemed fun or potentially fun but they managed to screw it up, spectacularly.

Don't know anything about Cascadia, I'll have to look into it.
