My lady is much younger than I am and I used this to show her how things have changed, was nice to see this again (and looking over some of those familiar faces back on that board.)

/sprinkles some more necromancy on here.

The only real way to see a more lively community would most like to either make a Discord or a Guilded server. Lot easier to post/communicate but that'd be if people still wanted to on a day by day basis.

Just my 2 cents, nothing against web forums as I do kinda miss the old days of the internet!

I was not able to try the B.E.T.A. and am just now trying it during the free trial. So far I've made it to lv 11 or 12 but I'm enjoying my trek through West Virginia! People tend to be incredibly friendly but I acknowledge there's still some design problems to iron out. While I don't personally mind the hunger and thirst function, it feels...kinda pointless being that death isn't permanent and you're in a multiplayer scenario. As for the lack of NPCs, you don't seem to notice immediately- or at least I didn't as I was taking in the sights- but it becomes pretty clear shortly after you leave the early areas.

I know they're adding NPCs with the Wastelanders update and making it lore friendly but I think it shows that Fallout 76 should have probably launched that way. Not going to knock them for trying it though I think the 24 player map limitation was a little low and they probably should have made the player driven vendors/etc a launch feature or be able to "buy" and clear out locations for settlements or something. Still a number of bugs but these things don't tend to bother me as much as I've not run into anything that causes a loss/lack of progression or something game ending. I'm hoping the Wastelanders update really injects that oomph it needs for longevity and that they keep taking feedback like they have been even among the SCORCHing criticism. I can see myself wandering the wasteland and rooting out all the holo-tapes, notes, and just generally exploring but I don't think it'd hold me for too long without an update like that or something similar, so I'm hinging my long term investment and possible purchase on that.

Yeah, I infiltrated the UV seven years ago and I still haven't achieved anything. 🤷

Isn't that literally living the dream?

I've heard a few friends that like it but they definitely don't hesitate to point out many many glaring flaws.

It might eventually become a much better game but I'm passing on it for now, will see where it's at in a year and decide.

Yeah, if I get this, it'll be for steam. I recently changed jobs and used my unused vacation to buy a sweet new gaming rig that Liz and I put togehter. (I wasn't planning on going for a GTX 1080 originally, but I was able to snag one for $615 (US) which put it pretty much the best deal I was going to find for a graphics card for the quality. (Fuck Ethereum in the ear!) And since I got a GPU that supported 4K, I naturally had to get a monitor that did so as well. So after paying more than I originally planned, I have a rig that can run pretty much any game out there at full graphics capability.

BTW, welcome back. I find it interesting that of the three of us posting in this thread, I'm the newest member of the UV.

Not bad for the price of the 1080 with how bad the prices are getting due to bitcoin mining, I need to upgrade my system now as well since it's 10 years old and it's starting to reach the maximum capacity I'm going to get out of it. Glad you got a new one, enjoy those crisp 4k graphics!

As for the last line....lol some things you just don't think about anymore :P

There is an Unwashed Village steam group we could use for matchmaking with Villagers.

How did I not know Turjan made youtube videos?

I've been playing some Skyrim recently and the new XCOM 2 expansion (which is how it's DONE!) Never played Skyrim until now, actually, which most find surprising, it is to me as well.

Never tried Elite Dangerous and I've given up caring about Star Citizen so who knows, maybe I'll give it a gander once things settle down a bit in real life.

Oh, and been playing a ton of Stellaris. If you like strategy and 4X games it's a hell of a wonderful time sink!

We're just kind of..here.

As old as the community is, we're just not active like we were in our prime when the internet was still more or less in it's infancy and forums were more the focus of online groups. I keep up with a few other UVers on other sites as well, but other than maybe one or two posts a year (if that,) I haven't really been active since before F03 came out.

I don't really know what I'm going to do, I can't stand any of the candidates. Trump lacks tact and has always been a bigot and pretty racist, can't see that anyone believes he genuinely cares about anything but making money. His (in)ability to handle foreign policy should scare everyone, imagine him trying to bluster his way through a UN meeting or visiting foreign dignitaries.  Not big on many of his stances either, be it immigration of abortion. Trump is like if the internet comment section of youtube was given a human body, he's the result.

Hillary is just as unconscionable. It's true that both have the PR machines working against them pretty heavily, some of it's pretty extreme. That said, while I don't agree with the "jail her!" cries, I find that she's so untrustworthy and willing to flip flop at the drop of a hat just to get a vote. She basically lied about the emails and even the FBI said she was "extremely careless" which, along with the Clintons overall history, doesn't engender feelings that she'll handle things well as President. Hell, anyone I know probably would have lost their security clearance instead of having a slap on the wrist for sending/receiving work emails (especially classified ones, whether she realized it or not,) after being counseled that it wasn't a good idea. I know she isn't the only one to do it but that doesn't really make anything better. Nevermind if the leaks (which I still consider dubious, so trying to not lend them too much credence yet,) about her talks with wall street are actually true.

That said, it's a bit unfair that people attack her based on Bill's actions. I think most of that is fear of him having any sort of sway when she's in office, or a lack of judgement if many of the allegations are true.

Welp all I read was write something so i might as well. I'm new here. I recently found it that this was one of first Fallout communities created and I simply thought that it would be cool to sigh up for. So here I am at almost 3 in the morning watching Fallout 4 gameplay and typing on a website dedicated to it. Life is currently ok.
