Title: OK, who's played "Divinity: Original Sin"?
Post by: BlueCross on February 25, 2016, 06:43:45 PM
GoG (https://www.gog.com/promo/weekend_promo_jesse_cox_picks_240216?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=game_subject&utm_campaign=Jesse_Cox_Picks_Main_EN) has it on sale now (enhanced edition) and it does seem like the kind of RPG that I really like.

But you guys know better than most so fill me in.

Divinity: Original Sin is one of the games I've participated Kickstarting and I've played it for... 43 hours it seems... since we first got our hands on it. It seemed like a nice game, but I'm easily distracted by new shiny things and tend to forget about the ones I dropped from my hands. I installed the enhanced edition when it became available, but haven't really tried it yet.

I would've liked to write a more helpful/detailed reply, but it's been almost 2 years since I last played the game and I should also be sleeping already instead of writing this...

It's like Pillars of Eternity or Wasteland 2, I've played it multiplayer and the multiplayer is actually pretty good.

It's pretty good. It's not particularly groundbreaking and the story and locations are solid but nothing particularly noteworthy, but it's fun and the PC's are very customizable as far as their powers go.

So on balance, there's not much to rave about, but at the same time, there's not much to complain about.

NECROMANCER!

It's okay.  The gameplay is fine, but the story and dialogue are so generic that I can't even come up with a good metaphor.  Wait, no, I got one, it's like the department generic brand fantasy story.  If you haven't played Pillars of Eternity yet, play that instead.  It's real-time-with-pauses combat instead of turn based, but it's a vastly superior game.
