Nathan/Iguana Eater/Iggy was my brother. This year I got my husband Fallout 4, which he had never played, and my mother reminded me of Nate's (which is what I called him) history with the Unwashed Villagers. I just wanted to say "Hi" and let you know I've enjoyed exploring some of his history. What I wouldn't give for some of the old message boards to be archived!

I remember the name, but I don't think hes been an active member for nearly 10 years. Searching the username on this board brings up nothing, but theres been a few board restarts over the years.

Well, my mom remembered because he was one of the founding members, and when he died (11 years ago) his involvement wasn't quite so long ago and random! It was cool to remember the cameo in Fallout 2. This was in trying to explain to my husband why I would buy a game he'd never played or ask for. (Which, BTW, is all he's played since Christmas.)
Thanks for the links, Hanged Man. I've had a love-hate relationship with the Wayback Machine. I've managed to find a few gems, but so little is archived, unfortunately.

I got the name Gretchy Anklekicker from Iggy over 15 years ago on an earlier UV message board. I wanted to change my username and asked for suggestions for some reason. Iggy suggested this name as a joke, but I thought it was still better than anything I'd come up with myself and started using it...

I thought I'd search my archives and see if I can find the message in which Iggy posted the name suggestion. I found the post after a good hour of searching. It was posted on May 2000. I also found another post in which Iggy says my existence (or the fact that I use the name) remains one of his proudest UV moments :)

And hello asheleycs. I remember Iggy from back in the day. I also remember when his passing was announced. A sad day for the Unwashed that was.

Thank you for dropping by and reminding us of old friends. I felt like I knew him well, and appreciated his writing and his wit.
It was a sad day for all when we lost him. He is sorely missed.

Nathan was, is, will always have been one of my best friends, his death struck me pretty hard. We chatted pretty much daily for several years over ICQ. Played Diablo and Starcraft together for hours on end. Talked about life and philosophy. I was invited to his wedding, we had even made plans for a special dance.
I recall he once said I was the only person in the world he never got angry at.
I also remember sending a letter the day after the announcement (It came in the middle of the night for me living in Sweden and all), but I have no idea if it ever reached you, or if my tear ridden message sank into the Atlantic Ocean, much like Europe in the world of Fallout.
I sometimes dream about the little floating "Iguana Eater" icon turning blue again, hearing the Uh-oh! That means my friend is alive and has some new and interesting story to share, a wise perspective to add to any situation I might encounter.
I make sure to light a candle annually, for what it's worth.
His sarcasm and friendship will be forever missed.

It's been a long time (or of what I remember, I'm a very on/off again member since just after inception,) but I do remember chatting a few times with Iggy on the boards and in IRC.
Some of my oldest internet memories are of the UV and Iggy is a name (and person,) you just don't forget. Glad you found us!

Some of my earliest memories of the Village were of chatting with Iggy. I forget who told me of his death, but it brought me to tears.

I remember Iggy as well. I can't believe it's been that many years?!
Anyway, I think I have a lot of backups of previous incarnations of the forums somewhere. They are in a very, very raw format however, but it may be possible to get at least the text back up in a poorly implemented (think sticks and gum), readonly, unsearchable, messy way.
Please let me know if this would be something anyone would be interested in. I can't make any promises (and certainly not regarding time), but I can look into whether I still have the old files.

Hm.. And I just checked. It seems that either my memory is failing, or it was never right in the first place.
Anyway, the backups I have all date AFTER the creation of this board, meaning back to August 2007. I have no idea where the older backups went, if they ever existed. But I seem to vaguely recalling trying to import some older stuff onto this board.
Man, this must be what Bluecross feels like all the time. :p
