I lost my copy, and I've been itching to play it (quite literally)
New Vegas came out 4 years ago, but lets talk about it. After all, it was written by many of the original FO writers.
Did you side with Mr. House or not?
Ceasar's Legion or NCR?
How did you like it in comparison to Fallout 3?

Hmmm... tough call, especially since I haven't played either.

We had our 360 hard drive fail on us when I was about 95% of the way done with the game. After the vast amount of time I put into the game, I didn't really feel like replaying it.
I probably would have shot for an independent Vegas, with an outside chance of an NCR victory. House and the Legion were going down no matter what.
The drawback of independent Vegas is a lot of the smaller communities are going to suffer from issues acquiring resources and keeping order with the NCR largely driven out of the area. Vegas will do fine with the securitrons keeping order without being as heavy handed about things as House was.
The drawback of NCR control is that everyone has to put up with the NCR dictating how everything is going to be run. There are a lot of dicks in the NCR. Not nearly at the level of the Legion, and the NCR is at it's core a good organization, but they have a reputation for pretty much assimilating every society they gain any power over.
As far as comparisons to FO3, it was a far better game. The world made more sense. (E.g. There were actually farms growing food. The Capital Wasteland of FO3 got there food from pixies or something.) The atmosphere felt very much like FO1 with the subtle humor. (FO2 went over the top to the point of ridiculousness, and FO3 had hardly any humor at all in it.)

I played each side till there was a real karma loss involved then went with the NCR because they were the most sane and morally sound. NV felt the most like a true fallout game to me and I'd probably play through it again rather than any of the others, I could probably still run through FO and FO 2 in my head so it's not really much fun to pick them up.
FO3 did give me one of the most memorable gaming experiences ever: very early on I'd found an assault rifle and was happily dominating till I turned a corner to face a super mutant who just wouldn't go down. The sight of the mutant was enough but when I dispatched it with an exploding car that was pretty immense and hooked me in for a while. Did not like the subway or the ghouls though, the survival horror stuff almost made me put HL2 down.

I somehow felt loyal to NCR, after they gave me 6000 quid in Fallout 2 for defeating an army of raiders with brittle bones disease. Though I did find myself somewhat compelled by the Legion and I did empathize with House, NCR pretty much did it for me in that game.

I really liked the choices the game gave you, and the conflict between the NCR and the Legion. It gave a lot of life to what was otherwise an aging game engine. You could interact with groups of characters outside as they moved across the Mojave. There were many more interesting locales too. However, the amount of invisible walls and instant-death Cazadors to keep you on a path was incredibly infuriating. (I played on Xbox, so modding was not an option.)
New Vegas was a pretty big disappointment though. Only a few similar casinos, a handful of other distinct buildings and not much reason to explore.

Independant vegas all the way, played it favoring ncr when I had to choose sides, and I felt somewhat bad for House as he had reasons for what he was doing but he deserved what he got in a lot of ways, but in the end?
A free mojave was what I wanted, esspecially after wandering around and letting it all soak in.
I enjoyed 3, for what it was. But new vegas was the REAL Fallout 3 to me. The add ons were enjoyable aswell (the Survialist's story in honest hearts? Fucking awesome, all the better that it was all hidden within the story going on at the time). I still pop New Vegas in and play from time to time...
I genuinely am looking foreward to Fallout 4, but I sincerely hope they take a lot from New Vegas.
