I have sort of a different approach; when I delete a spammer, I delete all topics and posts as well unless there is a thread of some value (usually humorous).

In one case, I deleted the account only (leaving posts) which resulted in his signature links being deleted but I had to manually delete the links within his post.

I don't think it matters that we deal with these caustic slimes differently but it might be nice to tighten down our access again.  Who would be the one to do that?
